Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Thanks Mikey - you know, I did not run anything to clean up cookies and DH swears he did not either but I had to re-enter all of my passwords on other sites I use frequently. Unfortunately, I haven't had to log into BYC for so long that I have no idea what my password is any more. I did consider that I might need to log out completely so that the email response would work for me, but I haven't been at work to do so AND I find myself still clinging to this one little lifeline of communication under my screen name that I've had for the past 2 years so... I may just have to take a leap of faith and log out to see, huh? Yikes.

Being logged in on another device wont effect it. I'm always logged in on the phone and comp. When the old comp died at the beginning of the month and we got this one up running, I couldn't remember the PW so had to click the "I forgot my PW" and reset it. It gave me a wrong password error on the phone and had me logged out next time I got on the phone and I just had to enter the new one.

I don't remember if I had to try and log in to get the Forgot Password option. I'd log out and check, but I don't remember the current one since I make them so long.

Carolyn, as you can see there is user error on my posts! I made a post previously and it disappeared! Where do u live? What kind of chickens do you have? I agree with you about alpacas!

Pacachick, welcome to BYC and the chatty Washingtonians; I'm always glad to see another Thurston County person around! I lived in Yelm until I was 15, and my mom and her siblings all went to Yelm Schools. I'm in Lacey now, on a farm Dad's family bought some time between 1895-1901 (we have conflicting paper records). We have Shorthorn and Angus beef cattle and I have Silver Spangled Hamburgs, EE's and BLRWs and a solitary Barbu d'Anvers.
So, what kind of chickens do you raise?

Hi Stumpfarmer, thanks for the welcome! We have lived out here for 3 years....before that Hawks Prairie area, before that in Lacey. I grew up on a farm that my ancestors settled in the 1840s but that was in Southern Illinois. We have had layers for 3 years (Easter Eggers, BLRW, Gold and Silver Wyandotts, cucko Marans, Buff Orp). This fall I decided I was going to take up breeding and purchased an incubator. I want to concentrate on wcb polish, silkies, blue lf cochans, oliver eggers and who knows what else! I also have a few silkies, polish, and cochans. Do you know anyone locally that has lf cochans, silkie eggs for sale? I do not want hatchery quality. I would to have seen Lacey at the turn of the century!

Got it! I don't know why it was so difficult before? Did I have addled holiday brain? Thanks for the help everyone. I do believe that not only am I logged in with a new password, but I have the new password saved where I can find it from now on. Sheesh.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Well now, quite a day. Whew.
First my rooster was banged up by the hens pretty good and now they have him afraid. (just my luck, I have a metro sexual chicken, sheesh) The initial injuries occurred awhile back and he's just know returning to normal. Anyway, I had (notice past tense) a RIR from the very beginning terrorized all of the other chicks when I first got them. I thought perhaps she would become more settled, she just became more psycho and continued to attack all others for no apparent reason. Today she attacked my Blue Roo and it was the last straw.
She is now in freezer camp.
First time I have ever cleaned a chicken. Went fairly well, could have used a larger pot, but you make do with what you got. (Good thing I use to be an avid hunter)
Now I will anticipate a nice large pot of stew/soup, maybe with dumplings. yum

Jess - beautiful kids now let's see some photos of Ma and Pa and what they got for Xmas

Thanks so much! We're pretty boring though, NO gifts for each other on Christmas this year because we were blessed to afford 2 new flat screen TVs on Black Friday. Merry early Christmas huh?! So we've been enjoying those for a month already. BUT, my wonderful MIL gave me all her grandmother's china for Christmas (I've wanted a set of china for so long!!) and I'm a very happy 4th generation china owner now. Here's me and DH on Saturday during our first Christmas gathering with his family.
