Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I'm only getting 3 eggs or so per day from my 8 girls. No supplimental light nor heat. So far the 2 doz/wk are enough for my needs, besides the eggs are not the prime reason I got envolved with chickens but they sure are good.

I am in denial that I am getting sick. I don't have the time to be sick. But have had a persistent headache and cough for a couple of days now. I WILL NOT GET SICK, I WILL NOT GET SICK.........

On top of that I started a new job at work Thursday. Twice as hard as my old job but better hours. 4:00am verses 1:00am, I'm loading bread into an oven off of racks, its very fast pace. I bet I touched the floor 1,000 times LOL Boy my legs were so sore I could barely walk. Thank Heavens for Ibuprofen.

Now the DW is coming down with a cold

To all that are suffering from the flu, please take care of yourself, prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery. I believe this will be a very bad flu season. ugh.

We have 7 hens and are getting 4-5 eggs a day. Our silkie is broody (when is she not??????) and our other one is a little d'uccle who hasn't layed since summer. (I guess she feels the same way I do about winter!) so our others are a BO, RIR, Giant cochin, bantam cochin, and a langshan. I don't think the BO or RIR have missed a day since they started laying. Love those girls!

The flu you had/have or reported via Dept. of Health sounds terrible. I don't know if I have it yet but I have not felt good today. So therefore sitting around using the PC a lot today. Not sure if flu or cold or a flare up from my chronic disease. Guess next day or two will give me a clearer view of things. Anyway, just wanted to tell those of you fighting flu symptoms I also will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Was so sorry you had such a bad time Jess, then your kids and now your DH. It is so hard for Mom's to take care of the family, etc. during such times I know.

Glad to hear your sis is feeling better MikeyB. Blessed me to hear what a good bro you have been helping her out and all.

Chickielady... you have the most handsome roos. How many guys in your flock? So far I have seen three.

OK peeps! Egg sound off! How many eggs are you getting each day, from how many chickens? And do you use supplemental lighting?
I'm getting 6-7 a day from 12 pullets on supplemental lighting. Who's next?
I either have four or five laying, I think four but Buffy might be laying...I'm not sure. I get two or three eggs a day with no lights.

I have 3 layers and I've gotten 12 eggs per week for 3 weeks running. I'm using light for 14 hours a day.

To all those getting hit by the flu or nursing family members....
I'm So Sorry and Hope You'll Get Better Really Soon!!

Try upping the humidity in your home, it can be very helpful with both flu and especially head colds. It's a good preventive measure, too. They even mentioned it on the news the other night.

I have to keep humidity low in my house. If I get mold inside I may die. I am severely allergic. So our humidity is usually around 20-40%, which is bad for someone with severely dry skin(eczema). I am pretty sure it is just a cold and not the flu. I am starting to get pressure on my ear drums, which for me means sinus cold. I can live with that.
