Friday is good for me, or Thursday. Long way for coffee, but I would like to meet up with some of the peeps. Send CR a pm, maybe we can make this a semi-annual thingy. Who knows where this will take us!
Welcome to all the new peeps and hello to the returning peeps.

Now your talking. I love junk food. whoot!
Hahaha. There is a saying in our church, "If you feed them, they will come". Food is always good.

I have a rooster and some cockerels to get rid of. Anyone want them? I can't process them, but someone else is welcome to. If no one wants them, is someone in the north end up to a road trip to Monroe to get rid of them? We only have one car now, and Mr. Hallerlake seems to think using it for business is more important. Can you imagine?

I'll pay for gas.
Have you tried posting them on the Western Washington Rooster Exchange? Maybe since chick season is coming up, there will be interest. I'd also just try CL. I really hope that you can find homes for them! Do you have any pictures?

I'm sure many of you do gardens. When do you start your seeds in the house or in a green house? Last year I waited til march to start my tomatos and peppers and ended up with them not getting big enough to produce much at all. So today I just tossed the seeds in some containers with dirt in a bedroom in the window. same with my peppers and some bird seed (corn) just to see if it's possible that it would sprout. If the bird seed sprouts i'll buy more to plan becuase it was WAY cheaper then buying seeds meant for planting.

Any suggestions for when to plant what type of plants in pots is welcomed. I use to be great at predicting when to plant these things but i have lost the touch the past few years. It really sucks, Now that I have unlimited water i cannot get anything to grow. Last year slugs ate my garden. This year I have ducks! I am trying to grow an organic garden. A small organic garden.
Most of my garden space is near the sidewalk and what did make last year walked off when I wasn't home :( I had bush beans out there, every time I was ready to pick them i'd go out and they were wiped clean. I know it was people not animals because they would wait til the beans were very large before taking.

Gardening is supposed to be a labor of love. It's supposed to be relaxing. My therapist suggested it for my anxiety disorder. It has been so stressful for me each year (this will be my 4th year i believe). Year before last the city came and dug up my garden saying the dirt was poison and never replaced the plants. last year slugs and neighbors got my garden. Hoping for some luck this year.
Grow flowers, edible flowers if you like, but not poppies. People will steal the pods.

sweetlittlebaby when I was a kid we had a canary and for some reason I thought I'd plant bird seed. All I could find was an empty tin(from throat lozenges) and some dirt from the backyard. I put seeds in there and watered . They came up& got tall. I guess I threw them out after that. Maybe I was expecting them to bloom with bird seeds in flowers - who knows. I know bird seed for caged birds anyhow was mainly weed seeds, thistle, etc. etc. My mom told me we had enough weeds.

I don't think the plants would be as nutritious for chickens, as their own feed. Probably takes a long time till they produce something to harvest
