why not add more legs? hat would make it so easy to add a lot of space.

Lol.... You know.......I had a reason..... But can't remember it right now. Lol.... I think I had several.

.........One that I can remember is that I have enough material here already to hang boxes off the sides, I would only have to get a few small, short things.... And that is good cause I can then fit it all in the car and don't have to ask dh for the truck.

He likes eggs and is cheerful about the chickens, but anytime I want to do something with/for them that required his 'help' I get the lecture about not getting to attached, they are chickens, the have short lifespans and are NOT pets we will generally take to the vet........

The funny here is that he is the one who generally gets extremely attached. I really, really like the chickens, and the eggs are awesome, but I am a pragmatic.....

He also as a crazy-long list of to-do's that I can't help with, so I am trying to keep this one as DIY Sarah as possible :-D

I don't know.... I had a vision today of what I want it to look like, with the end goal being 20-22 sq ft, so my original 6 can grow to 10.... HAHA lol..... Right now I have 12 sq ft and 5 hens....looking at getting 12wk old pullers in April, so goal for finish will be June 1st..... Plenty of time, right? ;-)

WEll I"m up early to put the chickies under Lucy. 2 down, 2 to go. Thinking about waiting on those until tonight though, they're my favorites and I need to see that she'll take the first 2! You know, like a staggered hatch? I don't know though!!! I put a tiny water dish in the nest box because I don't think she's gonna take them to food in the coop yet. I hope they're ok! Need to go check on them again soon, but it's still dark so I think all's still well.

Thanks to everyone who offered to help me out with the babies. So far we've got it handled but someone mentioned some lights and a tote so I may take you up on it if the giant 2'x3' cardboard box doesn't end up working out well. I'm just happy so far that it'll be a "throw away brooder". Yeah for no maintenance, and a box we already had!

OK if you're praying or thinking good thoughts, send 'em my way with these chicks! I want Lucy to take 'em!

OK well I put the other chicks out with her too. they immediately snuggle under her and got quiet. I am freaking out here in the house worried for when the sun comes up though. Glad I went back out to make sure the others were still under her as well; I couldn't hear them at all. Can chicks be smothered by the mama hen?
