Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hahaha. I thwarted a hawk attack today. The mating pair in the area stopped by, but could not figure out how to get the chickens in the netted run. The chickens were stressed but safe.

I have chicken stroganoff in the slow cooker and the smell is making me soooooo hungry. Gotta wait til 6:30 when it is done.

As far as a get together at our new house, the house closes is 30 days and then I would probably need about a month to get the house put together. Then Chicken people welcome!
Hey Farmin mama- which house did you get? Post a Link!

Congrats!

I've been gone all day- geez- 20 pages, really? Geez- not even going backwards!

Jess did you DH get the job or did I miss it.
THANK YOU FOR ASKING! Just heard from him an hour ago after the 8 hour interview, *right* before he got on his return flight. NO, he didn't get that position. The pay was too low and the long term goals of that position were not compatible (read: too low) with DHs long term goals. It was a fantastic interview though, they want him in the company, and over the next 3-6 months he will work with them to create a regional director position for him HERE! We don't have to move yet!! I can keep my chickens! And to reward us today, mama Lucy laid her first egg since becoming broody! Its been a good day.

The Mother Earth News Fair is not part of the Puyallup Fair. It's just held at the fairgrounds in Puyallup. MEN has two fairs a year they do. The other one is in Pennsylvania I think.
Thanks for the clarification. I think I was wrong because MEN is sponsoring the FAIR competition and giving away magazine subscriptions to the winners.

Well.. see.. one is for hatching, and the other is for incubating.

Duh!

No difference really - other than what you do with them, well the incubator has the auto-turner. I use it to take the eggs from day 1 to day 18, and then I move the eggs to a second unit, sans turner. If I want to, this allows me to set 14 eggs every friday, and have a hatch each weekend. I did that last year, and it was fun.

This year, I set 42 eggs at once, and I"m just about ready to move them, and set the next 42. I'll candle tonight - if I don't forget (again!)

FARMINMAMA - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO COME SEE YOUR NEW DIGS! (if you need help unpacking and stuff, let me know!)

Today was also a good day because it was our first ever 10 egg day. And Pip the Welsummer is in the nest box laying her egg....that's our very first 10 AND 11 egg day!!!! Now to find out which of our EEs isn't laying. We have 6 and have never gotten more than 5 EE eggs in a day. I think it's Thelma.
