Here is the response from sending a message to the city of yelm site about raising back yard chickens. It's also very upsetting that a few complaints can change the laws so much. I suggest complaining about not being able to raise chickens.
The e-mail sent back to me was from animal control.
"The City has received complaints about citizens raising chickens for food. Our response has been that as an urban area only pet animals are allowed. See 6.08.010 of the YMC and 6.08.30 definitions for pet animal defined. Thanks

Gary"
Greasy wheel gets the squeak.!

Himself is talking about getting pigeons and quail! Tasty food. anyone know anything?

Squab -- that word just does not sound appetizing. Plus, how many would Himself eat in a setting?

RainWolf has kept quail - I built her a quail thingie - I have pictures if you want them. It's not at all like a chicken coop. I think she kept Cortunix (sp?) and/or A&Ms (or some other breed named for a Texas University)

My GSL, Amber, lays everyday and takes one day off every 7-9 days. She is my smallest bird at 4.5lbs and lays a medium/large dark brown egg.She is super inquisitive and friendly. I will definitely get more of them in the future.

Ok everyone. When one person says something about his/her faith, a belief in a god, he/she is automatically denying someone else's faith if it's different from yours (unless you believe in ALL gods). So, in the interest of peace in the community, how about we ALL agree NOT to discuss god or lack thereof. It might be better to pm someone if you know they need uplifting, and you know they are religious, and you want to offer religious support. This way it won't offend others from a different faith, or no faith. Worth a thought.
Yes!!

So jealous!!! I want a serger!!!

I know this is a sensitive subject. I'd like to THINK I'm somewhere in between the two polar opposites that are often expressed. I don't agree with either one. Someone said that god was good to have spared their friend anything worse than had actually happened in the avalanche. Someone else said how could that be "good" (I know I'm not quoting accurately, so please read on so I can make my point) Both of these comments kept me thinking. I decided that it was a case of "Cup Half Full" and "Cup Half Empty". They simply saw the situation from different points of view. I could debate either side.

When something shocking happens in our world it brings a lot of strong opinions to the surface. The tragedy HURTS US ALL. We all handle our pain in different ways. Some seek solace in the belief they are protected in some way. Some express anger that they feel unprotected.

Just as if you were observing from afar after a terrible tragedy. Would you take personal offense if a parent were lashing out at the universe, cursing god or ala or buddha or any deity because his/her child had just been killed. I think we all would look at the loss and see a person dealing with the tragedy in their own way.

Please, everyone, allow each of the people in our community to deal with the pain and anger and shock without feeling they are directing their comments at anyone personally. A different belief is not an attack. Yellow is not anti-purple. Stripes are not anti-polka dots. They are just opposites -- just individual beliefs.
