Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Well I for one am impressed with the beautiful egg - I have wanted a blue egg layer for - like ever!!!!! So I don;t care what negatives anyone else says about it - for me I think it is the most lovely egg and - good for you and your "VERY RARE to you, dark BLUE egg laying HEN"

Oes

Thank you! I got my two Ameraucanas two springs ago, hatched them from eggs. I adore my Blueberry & Blackberry! I know some folks breed them on here, but we aren't allowed roosters. Probably a good thing, or I'd have the hatching bug even worse than I already do!

(And Blueberry was acting broody last night...hmm...do I get her some eggs?

Well, I better go get myself some leaded coffee before the head ache sets in..............

Have a Q for VF:
Did you grow all the jalapenos you canned, or did you buy a case from a farm ?
I want to do some this year in half pints though.........and need a good recipe.

My Mom may have one, she makes awesome Jalapeno jelly...looks like mint jelly but not !
She uses this for meats, like poke chops

It's HOT & Sweet !

Bye guys~

I grew them. But -- there is a great pepper farm just a few miles south of Yakima - in Wapato. I've gotten peppers from them before and they've been very good.

My nanny would hunt for baby rats and drop them into a new bottle of Remy Martin. They look like little peanuts in the bottle. She would use that stuff for RA and for sprains.

Oh Geeeeeeeze !!!!!!!!!!! I had Cambodians here last week end, the woman speaks no English, the husband a tiny bit....even still we could communicate & had fun. She was dying for roosters, for broth. She says it must be an old rooster & that only broth from an old rooster would make her arthritis feel better. My Mexican friend brought the Cambodians here, and asked me if I ever had cambodian food, I says no... he said Don't do it ! Their food is too much Ayo & too HOT !!! That brought loads of laughter ! I assume Ayo is garlic ?
Yup, ayo=garlic. I love Cambodian food!

I know folks in Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia use a lot of fish sauce.

Makes Ramen shake rattle & roll. Crack an egg and toss in some greens & you have yummy goodness.

Check out the super dark blue egg that Blackberry laid! (Blueberry laid the light blue one in the back - they're sisters.) I've never seen one so dark! Pretty sure this is the first egg she's laid in a while...

And here is my 'goodbye' picture of Heidi, I took her to Hallerlake's on Suday night. I hope she's doing well!

I asked my husband if it was quieter yesteday, he said 'he didn't notice anything'. Yep, that means it was quieter! (And the neighbor was not over to tell us that our chickens were in her yard again!)

I think it's that dark because it was coated twice? or because it was her first egg in a while? She's 18 months old, her eggs are usually the blue color in the back.

For our girls, they are very rare (as in this is the first and probably only one

). The blue egg in back of her sister's is the usual shade of blue that she lays.
well, Heidi is certainly a beauty, hard to let her go, I am sure. Those eggs are a wonderful assortment. I can hardly wait
to have eggs here.

On this side, there's Wapato (or maybe Selah?) peppers at the Oly Farmer's Market starting in late August or early September, from the trucker at the east end of the Market. We grow 10-15 different kinds of hot peppers every year at Margo's but the heat is not dependable, and the last few summers have been iffy for production. You want I should keep you informed?

Your wish is my command.

(sorry for the weird framing: we are actually inside a fallen Gravenstien tree, knocked off its roots by a branch from a higher tree in the ice storm last year)
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

With curly hair!
Good thing my ROA doesn't allow life stock or I'd be getting one of those to mow my lawn.

Yes that's what I'm getting too :( the ONLY thing that I saw negative towards livestock was the OBVIOUS, they are not permitted to run in the streets or public areas, well my backyard ISN'T public!!!!! lol this is so frustrating :/ any one here from Yelm want to start a petition to change the law???

EDIT: really also frustrating why I can't figure out how to respond like y'all do with all the other convo's in the message :( blarg!
OK try this see down in the lower right corner of my post??

That will do the quote thing like others do. If you want to Quote more than one post use the "multi" and when you get to the last one you want to quote click the "quote' button.

When there is a post that you want to respond to, hit the "quote" button at the bottom of the post. If there is more than one that you want to respond to, hit "multi" on them, until you get to the last post that you want to respond to, then hit quote. I just this morning figured out that if you go to your profile, go to the edit account details button, uncheck the box that says, "Remove Nested Quotes in Replies". Hope this helps you.

What breed is she that she came out white? We want to start raising beef, but getting started with cattle is so expensive and we are pretty strapped right now. I was told that Red Angus are easy on fences, but in reading, the Scottish Highland is supposed to be really good beef as it is leaner. Maybe next year.

Doves are very tasty, but also so lovely & make such a soothing sound I could not butcher them.

I really love the sound made by doves, and pigeons!

Oh MY!!

Planted your cukes OUTSIDE???? Or in a greenhouse or something? I just got my seeds yesterday -- Green Slam. Unfortunately Territorial doesn't sell them any more, I had to order them on E-bay! Last year my cukes wouldn't grow AT ALL. The year before they did fine. So I'm really sweating it this year. Any advice?

Ugh - you mean you all can't read my mind? LOL sorry I wasn't more clear!
Gee... I thought it was clear... I understood you meant the Blue egg.

CR's eyes must be getting crossed or something! hehehe

Could it me AJINOMOTO??? aka MSG

Ajinomoto is a Japanese ingredient.... Oh.... maybe I'm misunderstanding your intent..... maybe you're just guessing that ayo might be msg? Oh well, moot point since someone confirmed that it's garlic.
