Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Funny VF. I was looking for the breed name. I think they would be a pretty negative to Fluffy (LB) in my little flock.

Those look like hatchery quality Silver Laced Wyandottes. Nothing wrong with hatchery Wyandottes, the lacing just isn't as good on them. I loved all my hatchery SLW's. They lay very well and are super sweet.

I wish I were going!  My gf and I have gone the past two years when it was in Stephenson and spent the entire weekend at the hotel right on the Columbia River.  It was a GREAT excuse to get away for a girls road trip.  Last year we even visited the Multnomah Falls one afternoon.  It was just beautiful.  We had a small get together in our hotel room with snacks and wine for a couple of our favorite WA BYCers, missed some others who were busy working the show and overall had a FANTASTIC time!

Unfortunately, the theater has taken over my life for these next couple of months and I'm missing the big chicken show.  Next year I'm hoping to be there again!  If you haven't been before and have an opportunity to go just for the day, do it!  So much fun, such beautiful birds!  Stay away from the SALE corner though or you'll go home with something you hadn't planned on!  Last year I arranged to get my 12 Serama eggs and then decided at the last minute to buy 12 of CatDance's assorted Silkie eggs.  Glad I did though - those girls are my good little mamas to the Ameraucana chicks now!
Go to the Show - and I hope everyone has a great time.  I want to hear all about it.  Remember to take pictures!

Oh, I've been to shows before - and I love them! At one point I actually won Grand Champion in my showmanship class. Whether or not I actually get to show, I'm going to the banquet, as we already bought tickets, and I'm for sure going to look. I'm looking for some Seramas. It's just so frustrating that my bird got mites right before the show! I know where he picked them up too. :(

Well, I got some pictures today. I will post the ones with the tarp here, and update my family article with more pictures for those interested.

You can see my two girls in the tramp-o-tractor and my kitten Luna in the background. She has a harness on and is attached to 3 leashes that are attached to about an 8" section of railroad tie. It's heavy enough she can't move it, but I can so she can be near me outside.
wow, nice looking coop arrangement and I love your tramptractor. good job!

Me, I will be there.
OK, here's one more noob question. When a roo grows don't they all get spurs? If so, when do the spurs develop? Can't you see a spur developing at a rather early age?
Depends on breed. Some have the spur bump from hatch, others develop them and there are a few breeds that don't get spurs.

Thanks. The girls are in it for their first night tonight. When I get home, around midnight, I'm going out to check on them and see where they are for the night. I still need to do more fencing and rocking around three sides of the pen before I feel it's as predator safe as I can make it.

We lost a 4 week old Splash Silkie chick today. Pretty sure it got pecked on the head by a cockerel in the adjacent pen. Its head was right up against the fencing when I found it. Good thing I am getting 3 more Blue chicks this weekend from KMHunter so the other Blue and Black have more friends.
