Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hello everyone,

If anyone wants some 7 week old roosters for free let me know! I have 4 I am looking for a new home for.

They are mixes of Americana/White Leghorn rooster over mostly Austra-white hens but also possibly red sex link and black sex link hens. Seem to have good hybrid vigor, they are very big compared to our Red Stars hatched at the same time. They all have pea combs and should carry 1 dominant blue egg gene. Off heat lamp and free ranging during the day. Also very friendly/have been handled regularly. Would prefer to not have to process them myself when they get a bit older.

All right! Coops successfully wrestled to our property. Flock relocated to the one coop that was easy to set up. YAY! Two more and probably a week or 2 of wrestling to figure out the other 2 (literally built like houses, had to remove roofs, all the hardware, nestboxes and they were STILL hard for 4 adults to budge).

Will post pics later. Really!

Next challenges:
1. Find HRIR hens or eggs of the Ron Fogle strain
2. Learn how to track mating info so know who's got who's eyes or whatever
3. Find homes for the free chicks that came with the coops (all 12)
(This last will help me keep my mind off the fact I can't play with HRIR just yet)
4. Figure out how to meet up with some local peeps in Poulsbo? PM might be better - can you PM several people at same time?
5. leaning OEGB on my banties BUT! one person thinks they could be Dutch OEGB mix, from the Dutch thread, and was sorta dismissive about it. Made me laugh. I am not trying to make my birds one or the other, but if they ARE one or the other, wouldn't that be great? Otherwise, most likely am wasting my time, yeah?

Thanks all. Love this site!

It is likely that I'm not going to be a fun person this week, just so as you know. Given that I was out dumping water off the sheep's tarp at 11pm last night, it feels as if this has been a long week already.

Hey Mikey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love ya !!!!!!!!!!!

Oh how I wish I had your energy.
I know all about sitting at the puter in the am, but that's my routine. I rarely get more then 5 hrs sleep and it's not enough but I refuse to take any sleep aids so the energy level suffers.

Send Mumsy a PM. She has Fogle HRIR birds. Not sure when she will have stock/eggs available. She is on Widby Island.

Thanks! Have connected w/mumsy already, but she's shy on hens... Trying to figure out where the next closest place might be with an extra hen or 3... who can figure a way to safely ship here. Alaska? :)
