Taking part in the new year hatch along...so much fun!!

I'm really disturbed. We have a little roo that just found out that he's a roo. So now he's chasing all the girls around the. Yard getting what he can.
While going about the chores I hear a squawk from my five week old duck. I've been wondering if it was a hen. The roo is taking advantage of my poor little duck. I guess I'm going to be moving thelittle duck uin with the big ducks.

Poor baby! I gave away one of my RIR hens....my khaki drake took advantage of her a few times...very shocking to see

Awesome flocks! I bet that Barnevelder roo is gorgeous!
I have 2 Barred Rocks, 2 bantam Cochins and a roo, and 11 10wk old Orpingtons of which 4 are roos. The Orp roos are making it really difficult to decide who is going to stay and who is moving on to new homes. They are all 4 so incredibly relaxed and sweet. They all jump in my lap and love a good comb rub! lol

Ooh, so you'll have chicks/ducklings hatching anytime now? Keep us posted and post lots pics of the fuzzy butts!

Thank you! I'm excited to be here =) I haven't any b y birds yet. I haven't decided between chickens/ducks/quails/ or pheasants yet. I do have indoor aviaries where I am currently breeding canaries, lady gouldian finchs, and zebra finches. I am a bird lover! it makes things difficult when it comes time to deciding. =)

Oh I have a soft spot for Zebra finches! My great grandmother raised them and I loved helping her care for them. When she passed, she left me her prized pairs <3
It looks like you may have got an early Christmas gift in your profile pic--congrats and what a beautiful baby!

It IS hard to decide; the more time I spend on here, I'm like Oh maybe I should add ducks or quail... It's addicting! I have had so much fun with my chickens though, and part of that has been the awesome people here!

Awww, poor little ducky. I have an oversized cockerel (6 pounds already) that just reached his teenage stage. He does the dance and tries to mount just about anything. He is not nice with the pullets either. He grabs their heads and pulls all their feathers out. My poor Faverolles looks like she is molting, but she's not - he's yanking out her feathers. The other day I saw him courting a 7 week old cockerel. He's crazy!

Unfortunately, due to his size, he did injury one of my pullets and she can't walk now. She is in the house recovering from a back injury. I take her out for grass in the afternoons, and he comes running for an afternoon "treat". Luckily he still respects me has head rooster and will back off when I block his advances. I hope he remains easy to handle while also improving his bedside manner. LOL
