Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I hope everyone's power is back on. I live in Vancouver, WA. My power went out around 11:25 PM and didn't kick back on until almost 4:00 AM. I have two full incubators, eggs I just set for the hatch-a-long, so now I am very worried about them...

I had a couple final projects due by midnight (I'm a student at PCC and a couple of my classes are online). I wasn't able to submit them once the power went out, but my instructor was nice enough to let me turn them both in this morning.

Between worrying about the incubators and my two final projects, I was a serious stress case last night. I had a final exam this morning, and I had a hard time focusing while trying to study by candlelight..
What would you say the chances are that the eggs I set are OK?

Seriously considering buying a generator...

The wind knocked out the phone line last night. So we didn't get it (and the internet it carries) back until this morning.

HI There, Bantam ??? Most of the Faverolles that were there were brought by Karen Carpenter. She lives in Burlington-(BYC, Sillie70). She has Bantam Salmon, Blue Salmon, Blue, Black, Splash. She also brought the splash Ameraucanas, several colors of De Anvers and some others and raises lots of bantam breeds especially colored silkies.

I had thought that Janelle had brought some Blue Barnies too????? Maybe was a hen?

The longtime breeder i was referring to is Erhard Weihs,( Kummer Poultry Farm-website and BYC), Enumclaw,He also raises bantam varieties of Barnie, Welsummer, and others…. as well as some of the few LF Mahogany Orloffs in the country. He was selling Barnie and leghorn eggs at the show…

.Royce Van Blaricome, Granite Falls, was showing both Barnie colors as well as Buckeye and Wheaton, Blue Wheaton Ameraucanas and ??? often on the BYC Barnie, and advertises in the Snohomish Co. Craig's list often.

Anyone remember what variety the big white rooster/cockerel was that was best or reserve variety????? LF Mediterranean? Before i left it had already been placed in the show row cage….he was pretty impressive….so was the New Hampshire.
brahma... no I want large fowl but loved the bantam blue faverolies at the show !! I had seen some eggs for sale awhile back but was great to see what the bird looks like in person

Brahma's were owned by a sarah I forgot th last name .. I gave her my contact info
I had Brahmas for decades.
I even drove from CA to here with 12 in my van...crowing all the way !
But after 6 mo here, they (and my LF Lemon Blue Cochins) were all covered in clay dingle balls...so badly that they clacked together when the birds ran................
kinda funny now, but what a pain to have to clip all of them bald, like why have birds this fledged and then have to clip them bald ?????????????????

Tires & garbage all over this property when we got here......

Before the rains came, and they still had cleanish feathered toes....

LOL, this is the dog house we brought here, for my old Labrador, Samantha, who passed 3 years ago.

I still miss here everyday !
Sam and the chickens often hung out together in the dog house, and she is in there napping while the chickens visit.
These were far from perfect Light Brahmas...after the second big moult, they had so much nasty black penciling.......but they were nice, friendly birds, and good enough layers.

How does anyone NOT just sit in front of the incubator all day on day 28? I could just stare at eggs all day. I saw one wiggle and now I'm all anxious!

Btw... Made the mistake of taking my 4 year old to TSC. He fell in love with all the little bantam chicks. And I am horribly tempted to get him some. Or see if someone will trade me some eggs for some Ancona eggs.

Chicken Math is a sickness... you can get it just from having ducks and seeing a chick.
What is really awful is when you set 12 eggs and only 1 hatches, and the lonely peeps can break your heart !
Especially in an imprinting bird, like waterfowl.......I HAVE to go to TSC every so often through the years, to buy 1 chick (usually a Cornish X, so we can have it to dinner later

) But the 2 babies keep each other company.
