Well we got our new chick shipment but sadly we lost 4 during shipment and we're losing a couple more- hoping the couple will perk up but I'm not seeing that happen they're too weak to even try to move drink or anything - the order had a day delay over in the Baltimore area . Stupid Baltimore killed our babies - they were supposed to be here yesterday course had to be our new SQ lavenders - poor babies

Hi. I'm looking to buy dome pheasants in washinghton. Can anyone help please.!

The only guy I knew raised pheasants, @Eagle2026 as far as I know, he no longer raises them, but you can PM him & try...

Other than that, try Stromberg's, they have all kinds of quail, pheasants & ducks, geese, swans...you name it.
I just got a catalog from them, beautiful birds, decent prices.

So yesterday we opened up all the green houses, hot frames & hoop houses, and locked the gate, and drove to Tacoma to get some boat trailers leaf springs...our rusted off............

Everything was fine when we left...all plants watered, etc.
When we got back, however, my 12-14" tall climbing cucumbers were pinched off, some pinched off to 2" above the ground !
Some just had the leader pinched off !
WTH ????????????????

So I put the game cam in the green house, looking down the row of cucumbers.........there was still 20 or so untouched.
Later we went back in & sure enough, more were pinched off & there was no sign of the leaves & peices pinched...I began to suspect although I disbelieved...............................CHIPPY ?????????????



Yup, it was Chippy.
Chippy was the baby Chipmunk we rescued & raised, and released last year.
Seen above eating a giant strawberry in a Home Depot 5-gallon bucket.
And he was seen on the game camera biting off the leaves & stuffing his cheeks full...back & forth he went, stealing the leaves & stems !

Sooooooooooooooooooooo I had to get the chipmunk feeder out of storage (for winter) and screw it back up on the wall & fill it back up with nuts, seeds & other stuff chippy likes.
And hopefully the little rat stays OUT of the green house !

Work...sucks that I have a mortgage and need money to buy chicken food.

Also getting ready to start up the incubator again. Trying to narrow it down to 60 eggs or less since that is what my incubator holds. As is, I have some subtracting to do.

Hey all! Quick question, in case anyone nearby may have tips. I suspect one of my gals has an upper respiratory infection and I'm planning on going forward and treating it as such. Based on what I've read on this forum, am ordering some Tylan 50 online (closest feed store that carries anything other than an oral 'in the water' type antibiotic is over an hour away) but I can't find somewhere to get the syringes/needles I need to do the injections. I could've sworn I still had some lying around the house from my vet tech days, but darned if I can find them. Anyone know of where one could get a hold of 3cc syringes/needles without seeming like a druggie? haha If I can't get a hold of syringes, I'll just go with the oral antibiotic from the feed store but I'd rather treat this and nip it right in the bud since they're young and still a bit stressed with being new to the great outdoors of their coop and the darn blackbird that keeps landing on their run and 'claiming' it!

So much fun to see everyone elses hatches and baby pictures

Makes me want more chickens but that'll surely be my eviction notice!
