They beat up your dog ?

I saved a small chick from a piece of fencing wire and as long as i had it in my hand its mother literally glued herself to my leg, kicking, grabbing and biting….she's a keeper…..it was funny, i had 4 rogue hens come out with wee chicks all in the same 2 day period…non of them were bred for, all crosses….If i had known where they were hiding i would have changed eggs with them.

I do not know if I posted about my Blue OE girl with the sour crop ?
Her surgery (last week) went fine, and she has been 'resting' in a pen by herself...tonight I will go out & get her & inspect the stitches and if it all looks good, she'll get back in her own coop.
My concern now is how the crop does not look as if it is asending at all...still pendulous, and my concern is food will accumulate once again as the crop droops down so low...
I think she needs a crop bra to hold the crop up for a while, so that may be my chore for today:
A crop bra.
Maybe I can use a hen saddle upside down ?

Today we found our first egg!!! My girls are only 15 weeks old. It's tiny but, I am very excited. My roo "Pepper" is mounting them but, they haven't been going for his advances

Did any of you get hit by the big winds today? I'm glad for the rains but I would have passed on the wind. It blew our patio free-standing swing. My husband is up at Snohomish at a Civil War reenactment. He said a little twister/dust devil/micro burst came through blew tents and flys down sent them sailing across the field.

I guess I'd better go out and check on the Girls. My leg has been bothering me today...I guess a broken femur and titanium rod up my leg doesn't mix well with this weather. Well, I hope none of you got beaten up too much from this weather.

We got pretty hammered down here. Fire engines have been racing up and down the main roads all day long. Lots of power outages, as well.

Winds here. Glad we got the boat up off it's side and back on the trailer. Nothing else here has issues. The roofed pens are all tied down with 10 inch spiral anchors at the corners. We lost power about three times this morning for a few minutes each. Mostly likely branches falling. It was browning out occasionally until about 2.

Check your subdivision or HOA rules as well. Graham is unincorporated so it falls under Pierce County rules. Check your zoning. That size of a property probably isn't zoned Rural. I'm not sure what Urban restrictions are.

I wanted poultry and livestock so we only looked at rural properties over 5 acres when we bought (we have just shy of 18) so I'm not sure on small lots.

Look up setbacks from buildings and property lines as well.

On urban lots less than one acre, as many as six poultry hens and small animals in any combination are allowed. Roosters, peacocks and male turkeys are prohibited, because of the noise.

Hello all - in Kitsap we've had lots of rain and the forecast is showing more on the way, with cooler temps. My pullets are about 12 weeks old, so what should I be doing to care for them during this coming autumn weather? TIA

Made it through the storm with minimal damage here on North Whidbey Island. Couple of fence post snapped and some broken bushes and branches. Will need to put the tarp back over the run today since it is what caused the fence posts to snap and we had to take it down mid-storm. I just hope our rain makes it over to Eastern Washington and count my blessing that the only loss I had was a couple of 4x4 unlike our Eastern neighbors.
