Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

My chooks have officially been kicked out of the garden beds. Everything is now secured with bird netting. Worked well to keep them out last year, and it's easy to move out of my way when tending the crops. The ladies are upset that their favorite forage spots are closed off. Oh well, they'll just have to be content tearing through the ivy that's overtaking the front woods.

We were pretty fortunate getting this one last year because of being kinda out here
would make a pretty long commute to where ever as we are 23 miles off I-5

I want goats eventually, but for now it is not possible.

The real estate market is viscous.  We had to rescind our offer on the house in Tacoma.  Long story short, they had tenants and things got complicated.

We are putting in an offer on a place in Graham now.  I told my oldest that if we got it we could get chickens.  He said he wanted green ones but after I told him that there are no green chickens he said 'Ok. Then they should have big fluffy butts!'  (he is 4) I promised to look for nice chickens with big fluffy butts.  If we get the house.

Black australorp are supposed to have a green sheen to them in the sunshine. Wyandots have fluffy butts.

Any quality black will have a green sheen to the feathers, purple sheen is not good on blacks. Orpingtons are known for having fluffy butts and we have some nice surplus black pullets close to laying and surplus young hens that just started laying recently. We raised up a bunch of chicks to keep the girls and then decided to keep two roosters so now the girls we kept may be too related. I know alot of people let chickens inbreed but I don't like to do it unless the offspring are just going to be eaten. It is bad genetics and we want to breed strong genes into our flock.

I am worried about a bidding war. The agent is set up for reviewing offers tomorrow to allow for competition. Our starting offer is 15k over asking and I am still unsure if we will have the best offer.

I can't wait to have chickens again.

ZooKeeper, I ran a chick/started puller business in Colorado a few years back. I made a profit too, just not enough at the time and then I was mobilized. PM me with your questions and I will help as much as I can.
