Penny, good luck with egg hunting! I had some that were so surprised by their first eggs they layed them right in the middle of the run. Same bird a year later; I couldn't figure out where her eggs were. Eventually I figured out that she had found a notch and was laying along the rafter. The 'egg eater' I had been pursuing was nonexistent, it was just her eggs falling from above and smashing on the floor. Ahh, fun times...

My neighbor just told me that the people that moved in across the alley are throwing rocks at my chickens. Well, the kids are anyway. That makes me so mad, they better hope I never catch them doing it.

Perhaps if the kids knew that you were aware of it they would stop. You could say to the kids, "I heard from a neighbor that someone was throwing things at my chickens. If you see anyone doing that, would you please ask them to stop and come tell me. I don't want my chickens to get hurt." Sometimes a kind human connection reaches a kid. Sometimes not, but it probably wouldn't hurt and better than saying nothing. Or say something similar to the parents without implying that it is their kids who are doing it. Get them on your side, rather than create a confrontation with a new neighbor.

How is everyone how are you fairing on the first nice day in awhile?
I am working on my new chicken run think I may cover it with the
new white tarp that had been part of the greenhouse before I bought
the vinyl at home depot that covers the whole thing.

Went to a pool party yesterday to celebrate the end of baseball season. Selling 2 more pullets tomorrow (

), and two cockerels heading to the freezer later this week, kids start summer school/camp, and the in-laws are arriving Friday. I've got to finish painting the porch, and laying a brick border around the garden in front of the porch. Then we all get to put together a GIGANTIC playset.

Wow and I get to work on a new run, the latest pullets from you are all getting
their puffy little cheeks now.. I realized the Olive Eggers are probably a month older than the last ones I received from you
so in the next month or two I will have an array of color and a new run to demolish the ground
but lots easier to move with one of the mowers..

you sound addicted like many of us to our chickens feel free to post photos.
I have 12 Barred Rocks 9 Easter Eggers and 4 Olive Eggers no rooster just
us hens here

Woo hoo! I got my first (soft shell) egg from this years batch of pullets, they are 16 weeks. Jasmine is a White Leghorn.
