Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hello Washington BYC! I just joined BYC last night and a really nice person directed me to this thread with others grommets Washington. I live in Seattle at the moment but will be moving to the country soon. I'm here to learn as much as possible before getting 4-5 chickens (for eggs and feathered pets). My husband had chickens when he was growing up but it's all new to me. Looking forward you earning so much from all of you. I'm super excited!!!

The chickens are trying to eat the dogs food.

Do the chickens abuse the knowledge that the dog doesn't want to hurt them? My big girls do with my german shepherd. Certain girls will even take things out of her mouth. My aussie mix doesn't put up with it and knows how they are so he takes his stuff far away from them.

Welcome!

So you will have plenty of time to decide on breed. And time to learn about chicken math where they seem to keep multiplying.

Sometimes I check out the local animal shelter site. Tonight there wasn't one single dog up for adoption that was not at least part pitbull or Chihuahua. How irritating is that? They said one was part mastiff, yeah right. Pitbull all the way.
I agree....what is more irritating is why are they air lifting gobs of homeless dogs (pits & chihuahuas) from California to us ????????
Like we already have too many pits and chihuahuas and isck, elderly and special needs animals here that have to place of their own, we do not need california's homeless animals.

HA HA HA

What do you call an advocado with an antenna? A guac-y talkie.

They learn so much from mom and littermates. Athena was 8 weeks when we got her and could have used another month with mom. Zeus was 16 weeks but at the shelter with his litter for a couple days. It's a high kill shelter. We should have taken another one as well. He's a perfect dog.
He sure is beautiful and so protective of you...he defended you from quite a few issues hasn't he ?

The puppy is one month old now. So it was taken away from its mom a month early in my opinion.
way too early !
what kind was it again ?
was it a rescue ?
I've seen rescue dogs & cats come into the shelter with no Momma, after their Mothers died for various reasons.
My niece is a vet assistant & routinely has a litter of kittens or puppies with her that she feeds round the clock with tiny baby bottles...once they are eating on their own, off they must go.
