I have spent the morning by myself Richard and James went to a appointment in Olympia at the eye Dr., Richard had I opted to stay home they left at 8:30 this morning I moved the three marans from the silky coop only pecked one time by silky for taking them.
I have the water bucket cleaned the coop has no spiders above my head this is the smallest one I have I am putting my three marans in to grow a bit more before the Halloween hatch this is the coop first made for cockerel now added to with a shipping crate from the neighbor

Didn't know you had a quail or is this one wild ? Chargers are good they let them know without whips and such

Fence is to deter the deer. It's a wild quail.

What kind of quail you have running around over there Mountain quail? There are not many of those.

I didn't even know we had quail here. My Puget Sound Region bird book says California Quail. Topknot is wrong for the rare Mountain Quail and the also rare Northern Bobwhite doesn't have a topknot.

We're not as low or dry as quail normally roam

Interesting wonder if someone raised a few around there.

Could be. It's just one bird, too. The silkies haven't attacked it and I know that some of them are aggressive to other bird species. Several of the hens, and Ashes the rooster have attacked the red wing blackbirds. It's Ashes' pen I've seen the quail in.
