I lost all my banty today all gone

Went out to get the gals out this morning, since they were all still inside at 7 when I was up and dressed. They managed to unplug the chicken door last night! I thought I had opened it at 5:30 when I was awoken by our house AC turning off! 71 outside at 530…86 inside. Got the door fixed, chickens out, got them to eat a little. Now, gotta take the dogs outside…they’re still learning to respect the chickens’ area…but lucky for me, they don’t like getting blasted with the hose, they’ll learn.

It’s so sad hearing about the losses. We all did our best. Hopefully we won’t have another heat wave like this for a long while.

Wow here it is 66 oh it felt good feels so go to take the pugsly out let all the birds out wow sure felt good out there.

Thankfully all my chickens made it! I was going out and in all day for them. Refilling water with fresh, cold ice, dipping their feet in a bucket of cold water, giving frozen watermelon, hosing down their run and coop.., Anything that came to mind. The main heatwave is over (going to be high of 90 today)

One of the chickens, a silkie named Mochi, almost didn’t make it. She started acting lethargic, holding wings out, and panting (around 110 degrees out)
I took her inside to a bin in our (very luckily) air conditioned house. She’s doing a lot better now!

In Spokane, today is supposed to be our hottest day, forecast to be 111. The rest of this summer is going to be miserable if this is a preview!

Sad but true everyone of my 4 Silkie was lost to the heat sad but true .. I have a screen door 2 big windows but the fan needs replaced

Well, no fireworks this Fourth of July. Everything is so dry! Nearby me the roads were buckling from the heat yesterday.
