Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

The large fowl coop is shaded some and it stays cool in that big area.

Silkies are stuck in their pens during the heat and the sprinkler I have set up waters the roof of the pens as well as the courtyard. That cools everything down in the afternoon.

My upright deep freezer apparently had a small crack open at the door. It's not frost free so one big ice block. Took it 5 days to even start actually thawing. I still cant get the door open but it moves some now. Ughh

Hey all how is everyone handling the week of 90 out here on the western side?
I did frozen vegetable peas and carrots bought for them.
Should be ok for my flock. Since it's mid-summer there's very deep shade over their run in the afternoons, and I'll put out some planter saucers of water through the week for them to soak their toes in and drink more easily.

Every one of us has our ways all seem great. I originally bought the mister for the banty but afraid they might get chilled if I use it there ... Banty does not equal smart all the time..
Took a fall in the coop banged the knee up one deeper wound on the lower leg. I will be fine put silver on all of them .. no more bleeding but 2 bled good.
That was closing the coop for the night.

Ah jeez sorry to hear about your fall. I fall a lot. It’ll be what gets me in the end I’m pretty sure.

Sorry to hear about the fall, @pennyJo1960 . Be careful out there.

It is at least 10 degrees cooler where my chickens are. They have a lot of tree cover. I keep several waterers out for them. Maybe I'll bring them some frozen corn and peas. That's a good idea. I will also put the sprinklers on in their run this afternoon. They are just small individual tree waterers, but gives them some moist cool ground to walk through.

One of my broodies finally broke out yesterday. No eggs left, so I assume she ate them. Still have a couple more sitting on eggs. I don't expect any chicks. My girls aren't very good at this.
