Crossing the Road
After hauling the last load of wood chips to the run, I made no more progress other than deciding the hinges I had for the door were inadequate. I went to the Winlock Hardware store and found a pair of "real" door hinges for $10. The door was free, so I guess that's ok.
I'll hang the door and work on the last run wall tomorrow... My chicks really need to get out of the coop and have space to run around and dig and scratch and explore. Very soon, I hope. I'm glad they're tolerating being in the 4x8 coop as well as they are.
Got the yard mowed today, except for the area over my septic drain field. It's approximately 40' by 100', and I'm going to let it do its thing this summer and grow wild. Right now it's full of wild daisies blooming their little heads off.
Early this spring I seeded the entire area with white and red clover seed, which are growing nicely. There are a couple of spots I sowed a mix of wildflower seeds too, and they are coming up. I'm hoping the area becomes a magnet for pollinators. And a magnet for deer, to distract them from my garden goodies.
