Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Missing 2 chicks. As I observed the flock yesterday, watched as the remaining 2 chicks come outside the fence several times. My 2 cats were lurking in the yard, so finally decided to lock mom and babies up in the coop run. DH put all the chickens in there last eve while I was out. I left them in there today, with all the rain. Power went out around 9:30 tonight. How are you faring @pennyJo1960 on the island?

No Island here Mossyrock is in Lewis county.
Tiny town we do not get mail delivery in town that small.
Our power went out for about a hour here it was a transformer that went here must have been more.
We have Power from our county PUD they get it from the Tacoma power has two dams here.

Morning not raining this today so far.
Did get up woke at 7 this morning.
Wind was pretty bad here also.
The credit union is setting me up with terms I asked for.
Oh very good news about the credit union.

No rain here yet, but expecting it before the day is over. At least when it rains in the afternoon we can get the chickens closed in early. Not used to going out there after dinner to close them in. Hello DST.

It started raining here a while ago, but almost no wind. I spread half a straw bale out in the RIR run, found an egg the RIR hen laid yesterday. The other four 18 week old RIRxNH pullets should start laying soon.

Really need to start planting some seeds. And put up a high roost bar for the young NHs. They like sleeping up high.

I think we are gonna lose one of our girls she not looking to good. I went out to feed them this morning and she was missing... I found her still in the coop on the roosting bar. so i reached in and grabbed her and was shocked to see how big her belly is!!!! and squishy!! pretty sure it's water belly. when I pushed on her belly yellowish poo and water came out her vent. should I just let her stay in the coop or should I separate her from the rest? I don't think she has eaten today or been drinking since she don't want to come out of the coop.

It was super windy last night and none of my animals was happy about it...

Hope you didn't loose a roof or tarp.

Mine tarps are super tight so wind doesn't damage them. Rarely an old zip tie snaps but that's a quick fix. This is year 4 on the roof tarps over the pens. Think I actually need to replace the top tarps this year. Sun damage is very slowly catching up. The tarp over the tiny broody pen is pretty done after 6 months. I need to change the roof system. A hog panel will just fit and allow me to make the tarp tight.
