OK gotta feed the dragon and park the wagon. Tomorrow gonna be a busy day gotta move a group of youngin's to their grow out then gotta make a couple bells and start building (more) stock for Chehalis show.
I make the best Brownies, the last batch was extra special. I do have a medical approval to buy the green stuff, but I am not sure that I want to use it. So far I haven't bothered to try the green stuff. I am certain that I can probability live without the green stuff,.

Quote: He will get home this homing Friday, November 2nd. He is normally home during the holidays. It is rarely worth his time to go see a customer, during the holiday weeks. So he spends most of the holiday weeks working from home. As for me it wouldn't make a difference. We don't celebrate the holidays. I just don't have any attachments to holidays. We do try to do something for our wedding anniversary's. We got married on December 11th. DH is rarely home for that, and that makes me rather sad. We will have our 30th wedding anniversary. I doubt that we will anything for it. I am a brat and want DH plan something, and be here when I want him be here. He has 3 weeks off every year, I know he could get the time off but he love his job, This has become rather normal for our lives. He has been traveling for nearly 15 years.

I feel like the 30th is the "Who Cares" anniversaery; we ended up ging out for Chinese food and buying a new set of telephones.
I think you have hit the nail on the head with your observation. I do love my wonderful DH and I know that he still loves me, but it's rather difficult to get excited about it,

The table in the proper dining room has a tablecloth which the cats are fairly fond of. If I place a piece of paper on the table, I'll find my fat little black cat sitting on it later. She will ignore the nice soft tablecloth and settle on the paper. I think she thinks that this new thing is terribly interesting and so she must sit on it and see what happens. She's a weirdo.

It's a proven fact that paper attracts cat butts. Place a sheet of paper on the floor in an empty room, and you will find a cat sitting on it. LOL

I now have just two of the Catdance Silkies I hatched this summer, and they may both have split wings.

One blue girl is just a love, of the 11 chicks she was the one that would come up if I came over and is a sweetie. I kept another dark blue or black to keep her company, but I'm questioning whether I want to keep Silkies or not after the loss of my SQ male and now the possible wing issue. The nine that went to other homes were nice though...go figure!
What is split wing? Is it a deformity?

I still hope to have one or two silkies in my flock. Maybe I'll try again in the spring.

The run has some cement, but more than half of it is dirt. I was planning on scattering straw around the run. Hmm, I could get a couple of extra large cat litter pans, put sand in them and slide them under the coop. They should stay fairly dry. Thanks!

I would use either pea gravel, or sand in the dirt area. The straw is much more difficult to clean up. I only use straw in the coop it's self. As long as straw stays dry. it's a great bedding. If it gets wet it will get nasty fairly fast. I have tried wood shaving in the run, and I would never do in again. it was way to hard too clean up. You may be abler to glean alfalfa at a feed store. The trick is to use a big lawn/yard bag, and most places will let you pick up the hay that has fallen off of the bales as they are moved. The kids that are loading hay and straw, have to send time sweeping up the loose material. So in away it helps the feed store out, because the kids don't have spend as much time cleaning up the loose hay and straw.

Hmm, I will have to check out pea gravel. Thanks!

Yeah, we have play sand in my son's sandbox, which is on the concrete patio. I had the box covered with a tarp through the late spring rains, but apparently the water wicked its way up into the sand, and now the bottom few inches are like concrete. I'll be looking into pea gravel. Thanks!

I think I'm making good progress taming my little flock. Most of them still run when I reach in the brooder, but once I have them they calm right down. Tonight we had company over so I got Jerk out and took her upstairs to play. She pooped a couple of times, but I had a paper towel handy. She sat on my hand and had a great time looking all over the room. No fearful noises, and she never tried to get away from me. She does like to sit on shoulders and ran up my husband's arm to get to his. She was in a room with 2 dogs (my friend's husky mix is back for a couple days) and a cat, and while she watched them she never acted alarmed. I think I could turn her into a lap chicken. I think most of them could be lap chickens, especially the SF. I'm so sad one of the SF is a boy! The girl is so sweet she lets me pick her right up. She's getting pretty salmon feathers all over. The boy is now getting black feathers on his breast. Hopefully he'll be pretty enough to find a home as a pet rather than someone's dinner. Anyone need a SF cockerel??
