I for one could do without holidays. Irritates me that I drive all the way to town to do errands and banking just to find out that it is a freaking holiday and everything is closed. I did the Holidays for my kids growing up because I didn't want them to feel left out but if I had it my way, it would be just another day. I'm tired of it all. LOL, maybe it's because EVERYTHING has always been up to me to take care of. Gifts, decorating, dinner. I'm just pooped out these days. They can carry on with out me.
Quote: Nope we don't do anything different on a holiday day. No tree or gifts and stuff. We were both raised in families that didn't celebrate holidays. So this is normal for us. It is a lot less stress too. I do have family around, but I don't see any of them very often. They are busy with their own lives, and I am pretty much happy with being on my own. I did learn the hard way that it is easier to call 911, than to call for help from the families. I have found that over the years, that few people like me for very long, so I have gotten very good at staying out of the way. I do know that for the most part if I am up to cooking for the group, that the group will show up. But they really come to see DH, not me. I figure that you can't miss what you've never had. So for the most part, I am fairly content, and happy with my life. Everyone that I live with loves me with all their furry little hearts, and I have some real friends here on the thread.
I hear ya! It's not all the work for me, it's that I have very little family here, or at least one's I want to associate with. My children can't leave to come up, so it makes the holiday's lonely and sad. I do miss the OLD holidays, the ones that are warm and fuzzy and the real meaning is there. I can't stand thinking about Christmas before Halloween, I mean really?? And it seems like they have made EVERY holiday huge! Remember when Valentines day was just a little card? Jeez!![]()
