Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I for one could do without holidays. Irritates me that I drive all the way to town to do errands and banking just to find out that it is a freaking holiday and everything is closed. I did the Holidays for my kids growing up because I didn't want them to feel left out but if I had it my way, it would be just another day. I'm tired of it all. LOL, maybe it's because EVERYTHING has always been up to me to take care of. Gifts, decorating, dinner. I'm just pooped out these days. They can carry on with out me.
Quote: Nope we don't do anything different on a holiday day. No tree or gifts and stuff. We were both raised in families that didn't celebrate holidays. So this is normal for us. It is a lot less stress too. I do have family around, but I don't see any of them very often. They are busy with their own lives, and I am pretty much happy with being on my own. I did learn the hard way that it is easier to call 911, than to call for help from the families. I have found that over the years, that few people like me for very long, so I have gotten very good at staying out of the way. I do know that for the most part if I am up to cooking for the group, that the group will show up. But they really come to see DH, not me. I figure that you can't miss what you've never had. So for the most part, I am fairly content, and happy with my life. Everyone that I live with loves me with all their furry little hearts, and I have some real friends here on the thread.

I hear ya! It's not all the work for me, it's that I have very little family here, or at least one's I want to associate with. My children can't leave to come up, so it makes the holiday's lonely and sad. I do miss the OLD holidays, the ones that are warm and fuzzy and the real meaning is there. I can't stand thinking about Christmas before Halloween, I mean really?? And it seems like they have made EVERY holiday huge! Remember when Valentines day was just a little card? Jeez!

Sitting at Sky Harbor Airport in AZ. My brief respite in the sun is over. I'll be back to our rainy NW in a matter of hours!

DH says all the animals are well, he's been collecting the few eggs we've been getting and I'm looking forward to seeing all my pets, furry and feathered.

I got some great news yesterday. I had purchased a few tickets from the Silkie folks on the American Silkie Bantams facebook group. The tickets were for the drawing to be held at the poultry show in MO this past weekend. The prize was the Silkie book by Sigrid Nan Dort, priced at $100. Out of 150 tickets, mine was drawn and that beautiful book is on it's way to me!

I find this curious after we were just talking about genetics and my considering doing some very small scale silkie breeding in the spring. Could this be an indication to proceed with my plan? ;) I wonder if DH will see it that way?

Should be boarding soon. I'm looking forward to actually feeling autumn weather again and may make a couple of apple pies when I get home since DH was such a good guy to hold down the fort while I enjoyed myself in Scottsdale. He's a good guy.

Hey Julie girl! How you be? I for one can say I love that this thread involves other topics besides chickens. And I am a big contributor, even though associated with the 'club' often. I love my chickens and everyone elses but do get bored. There is so much more to life! LOL I do tire of long posts though. I can get about a third of the way and quit. I guess I don't have the patience.

Heres a new picture of the Tunnel. It is now completely ready for plastic. Friday is the scheduled day as long as there is no wind. Look, theres my little Bella girl! Home safe and sound!

Hangin in there!!! I know what your saying, we can talk about holidays, and where people are from, and gardening and horses, ect ect, but if you mention politics or religion in any way shape or form it's OFFENSIVE!! Yes, I maybe stirring the pot, but, I like you, have other things going on in my life besides my chickens, and there are lots of peeps on here that have shared a lot of stuff, other than chickens! And about the long posts, all I do is copy and paste to my word, and go back and read it later! LOL!! I don't have a lot of patience either.
Sorry if I offended any folks, but, I've been on this forum long enough, I just get tired of people complaining. That's why I just scroll down if I don't want to read anything, I think most people on here are worth reading, and I don't feel the need to block anyone. Believe me there are people on here I disagree with, but, that is why I live where I live and not in some communist country where we can't feel free to speak. Sorry guess I just must be in an argumentative mood today!

I am trying to get up enough strength to go out and move my pullets to my main coop for the winter, and we are getting ready to make a trip to Seattle this weekend, ( VA apt on the 5th)
We will be hauling my dad's pickup over to Raymond. Gonna stop by and see CR and his DW on the way, and have a nice visit. It's gonna be a quick trip, but, what else is new! LOL
