Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

*grumble*

Of course the least expensive exterior light fixtures are insufficient to the job I need them to do (hold a 100-wat equivalent CFL bulb) so I spent three times the price for a much fancier big enough fixture. I had to be really careful, too, as most of the exterior fixtures at HD are motion sensor activated, which are only for people who do not have cattle!

:lau   Oh my, forgive me for laughing, but I can now see your dilema.....on the other hand, it may be nice to have the said light activate when said herd of cattle decide to invade your yard !!!!!!!!!

Not so much to have it flash on and off at all hours of the night, though. My neighbors with the obnoxious daycare had a HUGE spotlight (probably 1K watts- like a commercial warehouse yard light) on a motion detector which was pointed at my house and went off and on every time a cow walked by for about the time it took for them to get their first electric bill.

One of the people in the subdivision has an audible burglar alarm with the same problem.

I hatched 18 chicks out a few days ago and I certainly don't like the forecast for this week. I told DH it's my fault the weather is bad. Never fails. Hatch out chicks, lose power!!! At least we have the easy gas fireplace, I can hopefully keep them near that if I need too. Too many to keep under my shirt this time!! LOL!

Quote: Oh come on ya really think I was serious ??? That would be like believing I have stolen chickens and cell phones!!! Sorry!!
I would not seriously try that to get rid of a headache. Especially a "TRUE MIGRAINE". Which I must take (bad) meds daily to prevent. I totally understand the render one helpless migraine. NO light, NO sounds, NO movement and doing a lot of used car sales.

Buuuick, Hyuuundai, Typically done while hugging the toilet. aka puking yer gutz out!!!

And on a little different note Thanks to ULTASOL and another friend in OR I now have 24 eggs in CLoverleaf's Hova. They are 6 OE and 18 BCM. I put em about 3 today. I just checked and they aren't doing anything yet what's wrong??

Yes I have friends LOTS of them and I can walk through places with my head held high with NO EMBARRASSMENT because of the way I have treated people in the past.

It sucks that VF had to leave so soon I had a little something special for him.

We picked up some rodent traps today. Will take a while for these to work. Keeping the dogs off them is the issue at the moment. Whine, whine whine. ("I want them")

Cute!!! I would love to get a pair of them to live in our goat barn! First I gotta convince DH, he's not a cat person, but he's not a rat fan either.........

If you attended the Puyallup Pet Expo with your dog on Nov. 3-4, watch him for signs of illness. A case of parvo has been documented in a dog that attended the Expo.
The organizers of the Puyallup Pet Expo confirmed on their Facebook page on Nov. 13 that a dog that was at the expo a few weeks ago died of the illness.

The Expo reported the outbreak on their website, saying "At this time, we do not know the circumstances of exactly how the virus was contracted or when, but we do want to let the public know as a precaution. We sincerely hope this is an isolated incident and no other dogs will be affected, but your pets’ safety is our top priority.

We make every effort to make sure the animals participating at our events are healthy and, as we find out more about this incident, we will be reviewing all of our procedures for next year’s event to ensure the health of the pets are never in jeopardy. We will also notify you if more specific and pertinent information comes to our attention."
Northwest Boxer Rescue reports on their Facebook page that they were at the event, and the personal dog owned by one of their volunteers died from parvo after being exposed at the event.

Northwest Boxer Rescue said all dogs were supposed to be up-to-date on vaccines and the Expo event staff was supposed to cross check records, but that was not done thoroughly.

A commenter on the Boxer rescue site noted that last year, the public was not allowed to bring their pets but rather, the event was meant for people see what pet options there are, to be educated, and to possibly adopt a new pet.
Other commenters said there was no way to be certain that the dog contracted the virus at the Expo since the incubation period for parvo is between 7 and 14 days.

According to PetMD, parvo is a highly contagious virus that affects dogs. The virus is transmitted either by direct contact with an infected dog, or indirectly, by the fecal-oral route. Symptoms of parvo include bloody diarrhea, lethargy, anorexia, fever, vomiting, and severe weight loss.
Officials with America's Family Pet Expo were not immediately available for comment.

I want to buy Blue Copper Maran eggs to hatch next week! I'm hoping to find someone close so the eggs dont have to go through as much trauma to get here :)... anyone have eggs to sell? I'll pay for priority shipping as well as for the eggs!! I'd love 6-12 eggs to add to the BCM's I'm putting in the bator next sunday.... ANYONE??!!
