As much as I love ducks. Im not allowed to have waterfown anymore. lol My DH is ok with me hatching chickens, with the promise of selling as many as I can, and processing the extras. Soooo.... Im trying to figure out a good breed, or mix of breeds "not mutts" that are duel purpose. hens decent layers, and roos a decent weight for processing... So 2 dozen eggs is what my bator says it will hold, I know I can stack eggs also. lol

Any sudgestions on a good breed to raise? or should I look for meaties?

We've only processed one batch of extra roos, but was quite happy with our Wyandottes as dual purpose. That cockerel was the largest that we processed that were all the same age. The other 2 were a LF Cochin and a Marans.

I just talked to my girls and they told me it is raining buckets. I'd prefer that at this point. Friday's snow has now been classified as Nor' Easter with a Winter Storm Warning in effect starting Thursday night. Those are the really big snows here. They are saying 6-12". At least they know how to plow things here quickly!

I don't know yet. We won't be showing. I have no idea who's in good shape at the moment and missed the deadline. I might arrange for a weekend excursion though. At first I wasn't able to come because I was going to fly out here to visit in early May. But I think I have already done that now.

Will have to talk to the DH when I get home.

I had second degree burns once. The worst part when when it began to heal and ITCHED SOMETHING AWFUL!!!!

My youngest DD had them also when she was about 18 months old. Scariest thing in my life. I had JUST poured a cup of boiling hot tea, and as I was putting the tea kettle back on the stove, she reached up and grabbed my coffee mug while my back was turned, and I turned around just in time to see the hot tea pour over her face and down her front. She had osh gosh denim overalls on, and the heat was trapped behind the bib on her chest. She now has a 3" heart shaped scar right over her heart from those burns.

My roof is leaking. And need a nice chunk of sun to fix it.
