So you did call the school right.. You need to call the school and the school trans. and tell them what happend.. That is WRONG ! And I give my boss a little too!

A dual purpose breed is one that provides both meat & eggs.
So you have to decide which breed you want or meaties.
Meaties are the untimate fast meatiest....and in several weeks the mess is over, processed & in the freezer.
I think my favorite dual purpose breed is Buckeyes, they are broad & thick and resemble Cornish although they do not have cornish in their background. The also have reported from all over they are sweet tempered not a mean one anywhere.
But, read up & make your decision.
I am getting Cornish and will have the Cocks over both Buckeye & white rock hens, so those hens will lay a cornish cross meat egg I can hatch some whenever we run low on chicken in the freezer..can't get any fresher or cheaper than that.
I also dislike the nasty meaties hatcheries sell in that sit in their on poo & do nothing but eat and eat..I want a meaty that can free range, be leaner and have more flavor.

I dont want the brainless meat birds that hatcheries sell. I want all my birds to have a good quality of life, and more than one purpose...

Lots of hot water, a Q-tip, and tweezers. Oh and a warm wet paper towel. The chick had already pipped and started to zip. So I got the membrane wet, and started picking at the shell. The more membrane I exposed the more hot water I dabbed on it with the Q-tip. When I saw there was no blood under the membrane I went ahead a gently tore it away, until the baby popped its self out. Then back into the incubator to dry.

That is REALLY frightening. And I would be really upset with more than a couple of people, and I'm not talking about your 9 year old child! I think I'd be making some phone calls either tonight or tomorrow.

I need to cool off before I call the school, or I will be trembling so much from anger I can't talk without a stutter. My head feels like it will explode - I can't imagine that the school would let her go home. She must have taken off without them noticing, but surely the duties who run the bus line would have seen all the kids bringing their scooters and skateboards home for Spring Break. I will see the bus driver in the morning, and I will talk to her first, then the office, then my boss. (I know my boss was having a very bad week and is contemplating quitting).

oooooooh I would be livid! that is not right and no way would the school and bus driver get off lightly!! glad she made it home ok.

The school bus does not even drive over the floodwaters, they take them in around the back side up Cedar Falls Road when it floods. I'm going to write a letter this evening and bring it to the principal, the superintendant and whoever is in charge of the busses. There was a communication breakdown somewhere. I can't image anyone would say it is okay for her to go home by herself! If I have a letter, they will have it in writing and can't brush it off.
