My house smells sooooo good now - 5 trays of cinnamon apple chips in the dehydrator.

At what age do blue Ameracaunas (from CL) and EE's (hatchery) start to lay? My EE's are 6 months, and not an egg yet (my older EE's from a different hatchery are fantastic layers). Ameracaunas have not given me an egg either, though they may be a little younger. They are all eye candy, but they need to be functional eye candy.

EE laying age varies.

BBS Ameraucanas begin anywhere from 19 weeks to beyond 28 weeks. Depends on where CL got her birds.

The chick in the back is a definite boy, the Dominique may likely be one too. A second pic would confirm.

I would be bummed if the Dominique were male. It's been the friendliest/bravest from the start.

I'm not Illia, but the Delaware isn't one I'm worried about: the comb is small and yellowish, for one thing. I got to watch my cousin's two Delaware hens grow up, and they looked a lot like that at that age (and had big red combs at POL, so don't worry when her comb starts to grow later).

Domiique=/= Delaware, sorry, and that was one I looked at and went "awefully light for a barred pullet."

I need to go finish my day's work so I can deal with the things which are making me stupider than usual, particularly the joints of my entire lower left limb with their switches set on "OUCH."

Outside for the next couple hours, motivating myself by chanting "Warm bath. Epsom salts. Warm bath. Epsom salts."

Boys usually though are the friendly ones when chicks.

Yeah, I keep reminding myself of that.

Standing up now, pausing while the car-alarm-equivalents in my left leg shut the heck up, and going out to deal with the wet and hungry.

Sorry, HoneysuckleHills.

Would've loved you to come along to.

Do you want to have a meet-up for end of Oct for the Northenders?

I can do Friday the 21st afternoon/evening or Saturday the 22nd afternoon. Anyone available???
