Only a couple of you knew that I had emailed the rest of the WFF leadership this afternoon....I had a nice email back from WFF VP, Dan Jerome also....

"Sorry for your bad experience. Showing poultry has been a lifelong passion of mine and as I get older the relationships formed become more valuable and precious.

There are alot of great people in our club (old timers and newer people to the fancy) but obviously you were quite offended by the responses you received from our President.

Give us a short time for discussion and we will get back with you. Sorry for you bad experience because a poultry club and certainly a show should be a place where people feel warm and welcome.

I can assure you that the majority of people in our club and those who attend the show are wonderful people who share a love of poultry and a wonderful cameraderie

I ran out of light before I ran out of work OR energy, so I'm not moving the elder Wyandottes until tomorrow, oh well. And then we had to go grocery shopping before we could eat, too.

I will say that for some applications the helical wires are infinitely less irksome than zipties- especially for connecting long stretches of dissimilar roll wire. There's a degree of learning involved so that I got better and better at it, whereas zipties not so much- I've been using the things for years, there's no real tricks to it, but there are ways that they are difficult for me to use having to do with hand problems.

Still haven't found my carriage bolts, though.

I also took advantage the sunny, (but cold) afternoon and spent the afternoon with the chickens this afternoon while I did a good cleaning in the coop. We got our first egg from one of the Faverolles sisters! It's tiny, but I expect they'll get bigger. Then as I continued working in the coop, scraping roosts, cleaning out and replacing shavings, the other Faverolles girl sat in the nesting box completely unconcerned as I worked around her. She would occasionally hop out and nose around in the run squawking and fussing, then come back and sit on the nest some more. She didn't end up producing anything today but there's always tomorrow!
My 4 younger girls are all 6 months now so I'm pleased that at least 2 have finally started laying.

I was concerned though as I emptied the 2 giant cat litter boxes I keep on the poop board that there were 2 egg yolks in there. Looks like someone has accidentally dropped a couple of eggs during the night. The odd thing was that I didn't find any shells. Im wondering if it's possible for the pullets to drop shell less eggs the first couple of times?

I've removed the cat litter pans and just spread sand on the poop board so I can easily see what's going on first thing in the morning when i check on the girls.

But yay for the Faverolles sisters.

I'm counting on them to provide me with eggs the next couple of months while the other girls are taking a break.
