we've been getting around alright in the chained-up truck (sidestreets are AWESOME right now), saw some people last night on quads. looked like so much fun!!! dh was mad because the chains gave too much traction to do donuts in a parking lot.

we built a snowman in our front yard - and, i must say, he ROCKS!

hope everyone is staying safe and warm! enjoy the snow while it lasts!!!!

<--Mine doesn't like it either... I have the first gen coupe. The Sc300. Which one do you have? With 12 inches of snow here, 6 inches of clearance = broken bumper. Last year when it got realy iced over and was about 6 inches deep, I took her out to the front yard and did donughts. LOL RWD FTW!!!

I had to leave it in oregon to get home to Everett so it's un attended.

LOL! i have a scion xb (toaster on wheels) - i don't think i even have 6" of clearance. we were debating whether it could do civic duty as a snow plow today! decided NO. civic thoughts were all we could muster (although dh did help a lady get her toyota camry unstuck on a hill). it's probably not very civic-minded of me, but i do get a certain kind of gleeful enjoyment watching people try the hill right by my house. whenever i hear that unmistakable revving engine sound, i run to the front windows to look... part of me feels sorry for them (in a better-you-than-me kind of way) and part of me thinks it's funny.......... i'm probably a really bad person deep down. but my love for my chickens redeems me, at least partly, doncha think?????

Don't worry. I'd get the same glee and excitement on slipping cars as you do.

I've always wondered. Has anyone added the little push button thing to their scions, with partial racing stripes on top to make their car look like a real toaster?

turtlechick--at least you have some entertainment at your place. I am going NUTS!, I tell you NUTS

from being "cooped-up" in this weather. I'm not prepared to drive around in this stuff, and there is nothing within walking distance.

i have seen a decal that you can put right under the "xb" that says "toaster edition" - like you might see "eddie bauer edition" on an suv. hee hee!!!! mine's even silver...

chookchook, you HUSH! no such thing (i'd take it back if i lived in the midwest, but i don't, so THERE!!) as enough snow!!!!!! i LOVE the snow!!!

although i do understand cabin fever all too well. i have 3 children. 'nuff said. now it's time to get creative and make yourself some snowshoes so that you can hike to where there ARE people trying (trying!) to drive around and you can watch them. laugh at them. then go home and have a hot toddie. and get back online.

hm. i think i'm going to have to make some decaf and slip a little bailey's in there. after, of course, all the hard cold work involved in bringing the girls' waterer in. of course i'll deserve it then. uh huh.

eta: cabin fever = you get done with your ocd backyardchicken sickness to wander into the other room to find that your 3yr old son has painted his nails with his big sister's hot pink nail polish. and in the process, he's also painted your bathroom countertop. and you have no nail polish remover in the house. and cannot drive to the store to get any. awesome.

I work at UW and the Seattle... I repeat: SEATTLE!!... campus was closed today! I'm ready to go back to my office and away from home, and yet if the roads tonight were an indication of what they'll be tomorrow, who's to say? If I don't go to work tomorrow, I won't be back until the Monday after Christmas. Hrm... If I do go, it'll be by bus. i'm not so confident in the public transportation systems given the conditions & news reports over the past few days.

My secret driving snarkiness: watching someone WHIZZZZ past you on the freeway only to see them in a ditch a few miles down the road. I always hear that character from The Simpsons who points and goes "HA HA".

OMG! They HAVE stickers that say "Toaster edition!" Major LOLS! hahaha

They CLOSED the seattle campus!!! WOW

This is what you do when you get bored and have snow:

About wizzing past... During the 10 Hr drive up from Corvallis OR, 240 or so of it on chains, we saw a large white SUV wizz past and then spin out across all lanes of traffic and almost hit the wall of an overpass on an exit ramp. So after doing two 360's across about 5 lanes, I think they drive slower now.

i also like when someone whizzes past... and then a few miles later you see them pulled over by state patrol!!! HA HA!

silkie - LOVE your snow thread. your pictures are awesome!!! i think we'll put snowshoes on and come to your house tomorrow (might need to go out looking for our snowman anyway....)

i'm crossing my fingers for a white christmas!!! sigh.
