David was so drunk he wandered into a local home (the doors were unlocked), passed out on the couch. The home owner got up and found him there....The home owner called the police and got out his shot gun. Had David so much as twitched...the home owner would have shot David.

We hope that David will get some help. He is showing all the signs of an alcoholic. We are very scared for him.

He needs to know how close he came to being shot, and how that would have affected his family. It's not just about him!
I hope the judge will put him in an alcohol program or something so his problem can be addressed before it gets worse. Hang in there, Teresa! Maybe this incident occurred so he can get help.

I'm amazed. Dave is a machine! He arrived, got his trailer set up, and immediately got to work unloading tools and lumber. After surveying the site for a minute he got to work and after only an hour or so building we have walls! My kids were quite the helpers. Hopefully I can keep them out of the way better tomorrow.

The Velvett Fog 2012 World Coop Tour kicks off in Covington! He's sure earning that rib dinner.

Hi,
New to BYC and stumbled on this thread. I live near Lake Tapps, between Auburn and Puyallup. I started this year with 10 call ducks to use for herding practice with my dogs. I have 2 australian shepherds and a border collie. I had heard that Calls wouldn't actually hatch babies so I didn't worry about having any babies. Stupid me! I've had 36 babies this year. I now have 13 young ones in the brooder and 8 adults in the pen. I've been so fascinated with the whole baby thing that my dogs haven't worked the ducks since Oct and I've now built and extra pen for next year's babies. Anyone else in the area raising calls?

I have Aussies too, but work a friend's ducks instead.

happy chickens today... I just love going out and feeding them their food. They all come running to one end of the pen. I know they are coming just for the food but it is still nice.

I aM able to walk around inside the pen and no one is aggressive at all towards me. Some do get curious and peck at my shoes lol.

Today is an easy day. Kids are done with school. Hubby's 35 year old step-son from 2cd marriage is having a teenager day. It really ticks him off that I laughed at him instead of giving him pity that he wanted when he opened the door and the catch snagged his hand. Now to make a few phone calls and try to find a therapist for him. (He is on /SSI for agoraphobia, panic disorder, social avoidance disorder and other) It has been 2 weeks and he hasn't made any effort to find a therapist which is part of the conditions of him living with us. it's about to drive me crazy.

So I am going to sew curtains for my new house today and maybe work a little on a wall hanging quilt. Peace and quiet for me. YEA
These things make it difficult for him to arrange therapy. Making a few phone calls for him is the best thing you can do for him.

Ok, so I have a field trip to go to with one of my girls today. We are going to the Burke Museum. I have never been there, nore have I heard of it but it should be fun! have to leave here in a sec, but I have a problem now..... My girls are sick, so now I have to try and find out what they have, can't quite remember where I saw all the descriptions of sicknesses.
They have discharge from their eyes and nose and they are sneezeing/coughing. I have been so busy that I have not been sitting out with them the last few days so I am a few days behind on their cold. They also have the ICKY poops. No the discharge does not smell bad. Can some one refresh my memory of where to read on this or if you might know what it is that would help too! Thanks everyone, and hope you all have a great day. It is nice and sunny here!

Oh and to all the new people

I will try and chat with you all later!
At first I thought you were talking about your daughters!

But for chickens, that does not sound good. So far I have not had to deal with illness among my flock, but I heard that chickens don't get colds. I hope it is not as serious as I fear. Did you recently introduce any new birds to your flock?

Quote: Hi Heather, thank you so much. I may actually try to use you....LOL. Actually he went before Judge Rawson. Dale (my husband) went to prosecuting attorney and explained to him that even though this is the first time David had been "caught" he has been doing a lot of binge drinking until he blacks out and that we were worried for him. So the prosecuter shared this with Judge Rawson. Between this information and what the report said the judge decided to hold DAvid for the weekend, $2500 bail (we are not bailing him out) and court Monday morning.

Hi, was wondering if anyone here either has, or knows someone who has, an incubator full of eggs due soon? Or at least due sooner than 21 days from now. And would be willing to sell me a few. I want some for my broody that have already had a head start. I live in Kenmore, will drive anywhere within "eggs won't get too cold" distance ;) (30 min?) This thread explains why :/ https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/677787/so-many-exploding-eggs-why#post_9156019 Gonna give her nest a good bleaching first before setting anything else under her.

if she has been sitting long enough..... i would just put day old chicks under her....
that will be much easier to find then someone willing to give up almost ready to hatch eggs.... Plus the transporting of the eggs at that stage would most likely kill them by bouncing them enough to rip a blood vein or something.
