I hatched a chick from my silkie rooster and my silkie hen.. I think its a male. Its got better feathering on the feet then my rooster and maybe tighter wing carriage. As I am new to raising chickens I am still learning.

My question is if it is a roo should I seell my current rooster and use him even though he will be the son of one of the hens. I only live on a third of an acre so I don't have a whole lot of room. And no paypal so my options are limited.

My 4 year old helped me with the photos.

He was born May 29th.

I have been looking at the van size ones that have a bed, toilet, fridge, Not to big for me to drive. I would be afraid to drive too big of one. Thing of it is, we have a 5th wheel. I just need to learn how to drive/pull it.

Since y'all liked the last set...today we hiked the short half mile Beauty Ridge trail; much more manageable with the littlest 2 kidlets! Then we went to the beach! William is having some fun but has more reached the state of perpetual tantrum in until we get home I think :-/

It looks like you guys are having fun! When do you come home?

I think my three reached the state of perpetual tantrum, as well - about 2 hours ago. Sigh. Weeks of go, go, go has come to an end, and I think they are absolutely exhausted. My mom and sister left this morning, and now my three are just besides themselves. I'm about ready to put them to bed for the night.

Hi all, just wanted to drop in and say thanks for all the positive encouraging messages sent my way. This is a great family.

Also wanted to give an update, my High Tunnel has FINALLY arrived! and hopefully it will be up and functional for winter. I will take pictures of the progress and be posting a few when I have time to be on BYC regularly. The season is still crazy busy especially now that I have the added work of getting this tunnel up. You should see this thing laying on the ground. It's huge! But I miss everyone so see you in a few months. By the time I'm back the tunnel should be up.

Well hello! Long time no see BYC Fam! Missed you all bunches! DD Chloe just turned 4! And Baby Emily is 4 months old now! Already starting to get big!

I dont know if CL told you all or not, but pretty much my entire flock was wipped out by a mink. Just ironic that they were safer IN the trees than in the coop... I had finally gotten my girls convinced that the coop was a good place to be. And then in one night, all but one was killed. So I now have one lonely and very friendly banty han, who thinks she should be a house chicken!

Its been a crazy busy summer this year, lots of dirt, lots of kids, and way to much to do before winter gets here.

My DH and I have agreed that we will replace the flock next spring. Just have too much to do with the girls, dogs, and horses, let alone the property to be raising more birds. I do miss them, and will have a small flock again next year. Think I will just stick to barnyard birds. My desire to show has flown out the window. Had WAY to many set backs with the Ameraucanas. Maby when my DD's are older I will try again, but that wont be for a long time.

My DH and I are sitting on some fairly hard times right now, but we are doing ok. Both still working, and doing our best to keep ourselves afloat. Its been a hard year so far.

Anyway! I will be around more frequently, or at least try to be.
Nice to see several of the "Oldtimers" dropping back in!!!! Maybe the WA thread will once again start to resemble what it is FAMOUS for!!!
