Ok time for cute overload...
My Chinese Painted Quails are hatching tonight... They are the size of Bumblebees! Check out the chicken eggs in the background for size reference.
Sorry about the bad photos but they are in the bator and I did not want to open the lid yet.

From what I was told, was that he was splitting rounds for firewood... How he managed to sever his thumb... Well I don't know.

Birds are better today, all seems back to normal, we even have a few songbirds back again.
It sure was quiet and creepy for a while there.
We usually have hundreds of songbirds, crows, jays ,herons and ducks/geese and sea birds around here.
Loads of teety birds and finchy-nuthatchy birds...all were missing for a week.

Thanks for the reminder!

You know, now that I think of it... I hadn't seen any song birds here all summer. But just yesterday I spied a red wing black bird, a hummingbird, red headed woodpecker, and one male gold finch... It does sewem odd that they weren't seen all season, and then they just show up...

This is just a general announcement for those that live in Snohomish county and have kids that may be interested in joining 4-H.

Wed. - Sept 29th is the "My 4-H Open House" event at Evergreen Fairgrounds at the Beef Pavillion at 7:00.
Come and meet representatives from all projects, animal and non-animal alike.

They are asking that you register if you are planning to come, here is a link with info on how to do that.

For those that don't know, the 4-H year here in Snohomish County starts in October and ends in September after fair.
This is a great time to find out info about any 4-H projects you are interested in, and get in touch with people who can help you and your kids get involved.

Just an FYI!!!!
