Oooh! I could trade chickens for pick up of some BC Marans down in Southern California. I live in the Vancouver, WA area. Are you wanting any breed in particular? I have a nice new incubator on the way. I could set some eggs for you, if you like.

God Bless,

Just wanted to say "hi" to all you Washingtonians! I'm new to BYC, and happy to be here.

As you can see from my name, we're in Bellingham and so happy to share our little city lot with four lovely hens!

God Bless,

I meant that if she wants chickens brought down to her, she has to make it easy on my husband because he ets paid by people to deliver goats, he can't take alot of time delivering chickens, which you can't really charge much to deliver them... So you would have to meet him along I-5 to give them to him (so she might have to give YOU gas money to do this) and she would have to meet him along I-5 to pick up the chicks and maybe give him a few bucks for lunch or something

We could do that for you, How many chickens do you need picked up, how old etc? Are they located along I-5 or are the people willing to meet us along I-5. I also want Marans, eventually in almost all colors/variations. Also want Barnies and maybe some Wellies... but there are a ton of breeds I like, so what do you have to trade?

Thanks. I'm still working out the details, but I'm hoping to add some CB Marans from "bayhorsebonne". I believe she lives down around Norco. We've exchanged several emails, and I was just planning on having her ship some eggs my way, but if we can work out an arrangement for transport, I might be able to get chicks instead, or at least have the eggs driven up, rather than go through the shipping process. I may have a few extra CB and Wheaten Marans later this spring. Excellent bloodlines. I've been on a waiting list for them. I always order more than I need. I may have Showgirls and Salmon Favorolles, too, depending on the hatch.

Spookychick: I would DEFFINATELY do it for CB, Wheatens or Salmon Favorolles.. I don't know what Showgirls are, any pics of those? How many chickens would you be willing to trade? He's leaving the first week of June, will be passing back into WA the beggining of the 2nd week or around the 9th probably. Will you be able to meet him along I-5?

We should PM about this so we dont' jack this thread LOL

JennsPeeps,
While I'm waiting for things to sprout and get established, I surround my garden with a temporary chicken wire & tomato stake fence. Once everything is growing well, I take the fence down and let the chickens in - they keep the slugs down, and they love to hang out in there. Once the tomatoes begin to ripen I have to put another temporary fence up or get lots of half-pecked fruit.
