Hey Imp, that lady you got chickens from near Preston sounds familiar. Is her name Mary, by any chance? I've gotten some gorgeous ones from her. She has this wild place with hundreds of birds all over the place in various pens, but mostly free-ranging. It's awesome! The only part of that whole adventure that wasn't awesome was one of her gander's who was not keen on me visiting and back me all the way back to my car by holding his wings out and hissing, head down, moving forward a step at a time. YIKES!

Anyway, I give her a thumbs up.

I have to find a new home for my bantam rhode island red rooster. He is a beautiful guy and very protective of his girls but he has started to crow and I live too close to people who would rather not hear him in the mornings and sometimes in the afternoon.

If someone has a bantam hen to trade that is about 4 months old I would be interested in a trade.

Well, let me know if you are interested in him, ironimagery. He is about 13 weeks and has now started crowing which won't fly in my suburban neighborhood. Very friendly and is the best looking of our Silkies. I got them from a feed store, so I have no idea if you are into showing or not, but he looks the fluffiest of our bunch. I also live in Edmonds, farther north than Seattle, so maybe we could meet at a central location if you're interested?

I wish the roo you had was a Buff Orpington! I'm near Woodland, WA (Amboy to be more exact, but who knows where that is?).......we got our first "sexed pullets" this spring and were hoping for one orpington roo. Wouldn't you know, they did a great job sexing them and we are pretty darn sure we have all pullets.
We have a total of 19 pullets and no roo. We have three different breeds but only want to hatch Buff Orpingtons, so that is the kind of roo we are looking for.
I'd LOVE to have a high quality roo to improve my line here, I just got these other chicks from the feed store so I'm sure they are nothing special (except to us!).
However I'd love to be the new home for someone's rooster that they have tamed. My pullets are all around 12-14 weeks old so that same age would be ideal.
Crowing is fine, we live in the country and wake up early anyways. Also, I'm deaf so it won't bother me a bit. Hubby is looking forward to hearing a cock crow.
If anyone has an orp that would like to have 19 girls to himself, let me know. We don't free range here because of predators but we have a large pen, I think it would be a good life for a nice roo.

Yes brown I would love to get him but due to the distance I may not be able to make it happen. Unless maybe we could find somebody coming this way that would be interested in doing a relayto maybe save both of us some travel. I would /could manage to get to the Olympia area if we could get him to there.

I just wanted to post my sales list....I'll be heading to Portland from here (Okanogan) in a few weeks via Snoqualmie Pass...and could transport to a point along my way.

Trio (3) Black/Blue/Splash Orpingtons (one black rooster, one black hen, one splash hen) Hatched last June. Hens are laying daily and fertility has been proven! $65/obo

Mille Fleur Cochin bantam rooster, hatched in March. This is an F2 breeding (second generation cochin). Showing good color, great foot feathering and cute, round cochin shape, nice little rooster. Would be a nice start to someone wanting to get into breeding this gorgeous coloration! $50 (price will probably increase after first molt--heck, I might even keep him!)

Blue & Black Orpington Chicks $7 each

Pair of white Sebastopol Geese both from Holderread's stock, originally. Both are smooth-breasted and the female which I got from a lady in Spokane does have angel wing. $150 for the pair, FIRM

Ok I need some help. So a couple of days back I posted a question about my hens not laying and that one of my hens had just hatched her first chicks. I figured that it was either the heat or the hens were giving the new mom her space. Well I found my answer yesterday. THe other hens just moved the nest. I found a beautiful large nest under some shrubs in the planter. With 25 eggs in it and a hen that appeard to be Queen of the hill ;-) Now I have a real problem. I am purchasing a set of nest boxes so they all have their own....how do I get them to use the new boxes? I am not sure what to do. DOes anyone have some advice?
