I just hit the report button instead of the quote. Sorry Mike. (I am such a tattle tale)

I think it may have been LaSombra. But RonB may be looking for a laying girl rather than a chick to replace his Leghorn.

Thanks Donna for the compliment. Pic by dil.

wasn't me, although I do plan on putting some white layers in my spring order this year... I remember someone was specifically looking for white layers, though...

Several years ago I dated a guy 6'7, I am only 5'3 .... He was a really big guy! Is your wife tall?

My ex-husbands name is Ron. In high school, my sister (same age as him) used to call him Scrawny Ronnie. I guess Ronnie Roo isn't so bad. Kinda fits here. And you were crowing about 'them good egg days' at the time, so...

I am gonna crow a little tonight if I keep getting eggs. It is looking good, but nobody on the nest right now, so they may be done for the day....... In which case, the day is just average. But one of these days I know I will break my 10 for 12. At least I hope so. My mom is having another good day. I am so excited for her. She isn't going to need to pick up eggs from me anymore if this keeps up.

Never ordered from them, and I don't like that they have some political quotes here and there in the catalog (I like PURITY in my garden porn,.. other junk just gets in the WAY)... but as far as great pictures and style, you have got to see the catalog for Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds.

The melon selection leaves me drooling. Mmmmm, melons.

My clime is quite different from most of you, I'm in SE WA in the scrubland.

Hey your 10/12 isn't bad at all. I would take that. Four out of the last five days I've had 7/7 the other one was 6/7. 5/7 todaybut it is only 3:30pm my leghorn is in the nest right now (but that don't mean nothing) and one of my brown layers has been waiting till the afternoon commute and laying around 5:00pm. Not bad for winter time

How's your count been??

The Baker Creek seed catalog is absolute seed porn at its finest. The large glossy almost sinful photos - oh, my! I ordered just a couple of packets from them last year. Most were good but one seed packet did not contain what is purported to hold. They probably would have remedied that for me but I never bothered to contact them. I try to purchase all mine from Nichols or Territorial since they are closer.

I was at 9 for 12 until a few minutes ago. 10 for 12 right now. I think it is both of my black australorps who are the holdouts. I don't know if it is the rain or the cold of the winter, but they don't seem to lay as well as everyone else. Averaging 3 a week, I think. (Sometimes it is hard to tell who laid what) I have only 10 for 12 two time before. Once on Sunday, and once some time ago. So I am happy with that. But I am dreaming of that perfect day.
I guess there is still time today, but both Liza and Olive are looking pretty content and ready for bed.... So we will see. My green egg layers are averaging just under 5 each per week this week. I like that a lot!

I love Territorial. My sister is a garden purist and she only orders from them. According to her they are the best quality seed company out there. Is it bad that when my seed or chicken porn comes in I sit down with sticky notes, a pen and a notebook?

at my last post I was 5/7 with my leghorn in the nest, just went out there and it looks like she gave me a DOUBLE yoker if not its an ex-Large then

still time for that seventh one. one of my RIR has been laying pretty late. Heck, I don't want to eat them. I just want to collect them

I do the same, except, I use a mechanical pencil and a huge piece of graph paper so I can start planning where things are gonna go. I find it really valuable when something comes up and I can't remember what I planted there. Also helps with weeding.
I buy those desk blotter size pads and do all of my planning on them. Coop, fences, house plans, room arrangements and also my garden. I used to be a much more organized person, and this is one part of it that has stuck. The only problem is that I often forget where I put my mechanical pencil. The hunt slows things down a bit. So this fall I bought a box of 12 twist erase pencils. I still have 3 in the box...... I wonder where the rest are now?
