I know a little bit about the gardening questions. Plus I am a lifetime Native of King County Washington. The grapes will grow in Western Washington. My brother-in-Law has them growing on the side of his brick home. I also remember a vineyard on Vashon Island the produce for many years. The peaches do not do well in Western Washington; they need the heat to ripen. The trees have troubles with the climate, and if I remember right they are prone to molds and fungus troubles. I do believe that there are some hi-bred peach trees that are better for the climate here. I would try Raintree Nursery for advice on types of trees that will produce in Western Washington. You will need to remember that Forks gets more rain and grey cold days, than say central Seattle does, so make sure that they know where you are planning to grow your trees. I don't know much about Almonds, but I would think that they need the heat and sun of central California. I am growing English Walnuts very successfully here in Enumclaw. Black walnuts do well also. I also know that Filberts are grown in the Willamette Valley, just south of Portland OR. So this maybe an option for growing nuts here. This book is considered the best for Gardening in Western Washington. Growing Vegetables West of the Cascades: The Complete Guide to Organic Gardening - Paperback (Nov. 28, 2007) by Steve Solomon It is about 15.00 at
Amazon.com. I hope this helps. I also really like Western Garden Book by Sunset. Its a very nice reference book. I think I found my copy at a thrift store.
PS: I am so sorry about your loss DJackJr
I have been there before. One of my Yorkie pups got in to the chicken coop and killed one of my Black Copper Marans just 2 days ago. I have blame myself for not securing the coop better, but now I have to get the pup a different home so he cant do it again when I am not watching. I am still fairly mad at the pup and his mother over the loss.
PSS: Christina May I am going to order meat birds as soon as I can, most likely on this coming Friday (payday). I only need about 15 birds so I would love to share an order. I was going to use Dunlap Hatchery, but I am willing to buy elsewhere to get the birds you want. PM me and I will give you my phone number, and we could talk more about what you want.
I sold 9 birds today at Auction, and I only came home with a rabbit, 3 zebra finches, and 2 dozen fertile eggs to put under my broody EE hen. So here I go again with mystery chicks. I hope at least some hatch in 3 weeks.
I am in so much trouble for getting the bunny; DH hasn't talked to me all day. I know this will pass, but in the mean time.
It was a bad idea on the bunny. The Yorkies and bunnies will a very dangerous mix, So I am praying that it will work. The cats are trying to figure out how to get the finches, but at least I have them hanging high enough in the corner of the family room that it's very unlikely that they will be able to get to the cage. I have still used twist ties to make sure that if god forbid, they get to the cage that they will not be able to open any of the little doors on the cage.
So that's what up in my life. I am going to work on the Farmville thing a bit more tonight and then off to be. Goodnight all.
