Cheryl, I also went out to my brooder house and the Baby Cuckoo Marans have pinky-yellow legs like the big CM hens, a tiny bit of grey but not much.
The PBR have yellowy-grey legs with dark grey fronts.
You can see that in my photos.
The big Cuckoos have pink legs and orange rimmed green eyes..they are cool birds

I often work at Cascade Elementary. Are you in one of those houses on the north of the school?

Yeah the PO is on 116th. I'm right in between the PO and Tiffany Park, next to Cascade Elementary.

Russ- wishing it was dry enough to work outside. Might have to brave it anyways.

I'm on the south side, about 2/3rds of the way back, across the field. If I look out my living room window, and through the houses across the street; I can see some colorful play equipment, and I see the ball games in the summer.

Finally figured out how to post pics

Here are some picks of my girls: Poppy is the white chic and Fizzle is the black frizzle

The first pic doesn't show it too well but Poppy is bigger than Fizzle. Poppy is so soft, it's hard to stop petting her lol. Fizzle doesn't like to be petted but I'm sure it's because her feathers just go in all directions and its hard not to go against the grain somewhere, poor thing

Forgot to say they are both so spoiled they prefer the comfy dog bed to a perch or their crate! But are always happy to sneak into Abby's crate (my dog)

I dropped off some stuff yesterday and I came by today but I was a little too early, you hadn't gotten there yet but I will get to see you on tuesday!! I hope it was successful!!

Ah, close to the new house that had replaced the house that had been destroyed when the tree crashed through it, during that big storm a few years ago. It will be great to have someone so close that can councel us on how to do this right.

There is alot of people (civilians !

) that cannot tell the difference between the two breeds.
Actually most people, even people who have chickens, do not know what a CM is, or a BCM either.
Putting the birds side-by-side you can see the difference.
My 2 week old CM chicks are young enough where they still have alot of fluff, but alot of feathers as well if you want I can go out and try to catch one to photo it for you ~
Having a CMXEE would be awesome, don't you think ?
I would get some more if there is more and you have a way out there, it is a long drive, used to live in Fairwood, never knew chickens were allowed, but they would do well out on the golf course !!

I would go get more. But I just brought 6 new babies home today... I made the mistake of going into the chick area at Cenex in Poulsbo... Well, I promised my younger brother that I would get him a Polish last year... So I bought two...

Then I went around the back side of the cages, and saw what looked like frizzle babies! I asked what they were, and the worker said they were frizzles. Then proceded to tell me they were a special order from 3 weeks ago!!! Then offered them all to me for $1 a piece!

They are so cute, and are in quarantine.

My husband says there is something wrong with me!

Thats ok with me!

I will post pics in a bit.

Were there anymore polish or frizzles left?? Were they bantams or standards.

My kids were sick all day today I wasn't able to make it to the g-sale. I really wanted to come and support the club and find out some info. My daughter has been doing dogs this year but she is 4 and doesn't have the patients yet to do dogs at fair so I thought she might have a better time with bunnies or chickens. If you have another in the fall i will be sure to come, I;ll just leave sick kids with daddy next time. Now off to bed!

I'm 2 houses west of Betty's house. She's a good friend, and also likes chickens. That was a wild night. Betty called about 10:30 saying she couldn't get ahold of family and her porch was blowing off. We pulled off about half of her porch roof to let the air through and then demolished and carried a retaining wall up on top piling the rocks and cement to hold it down. Then I noticed that her roof shingles were going too, so we carried a bunch of scrap lumber out of my shed and carried it up onto her roof. I have vivid memories of belly crawling across her roof dragging 4x4s. Finally we could do nothing else. I told her I'd leave my backdoor unlocked so if she needed a refuge she could just come over. About 10 minutes later I was in bed and heard a quiet "Whoosh" no crashing, splintering, or screaming nothing. I thought that was a weird noise and got back up to check on my chicken coop. Standing at the back door I noticed that the sky was beautiful, lots of stars. Then it dawned on me that I normally couldn't see the sky. The giant cottonwood had disappeared. I don't know how, but I knew it had come down on Betty; she had been worried about that tree for years. I was out of the house in a flash, I dressed as I was running. Neighbors told me later that they saw me running down the street with no pants on. Lol! Fortunately Betty was OK. As you saw it came through the center of the house down to the foundation. If it had fallen a couple feet west it would have landed on her bed. It brought down the interior of the house on top of her. She managed to crawl out over the debris to her kitchen. She thought she had been bombed or something blew up. We are both glad it didn't fall earlier when we were both directly under it.

Russ-I can answer the question "Does a tree make a sound when it falls?" NO!

BTW- there are 3 houses on this street with chickens. Used to be 4, but Betty couldn't deal with the mess.
