My quackers are feeling neglected and are going crazy everytime I walk outside! They haven't had their outside range time today yet so I'm getting yelled at! Who said that animals don't talk back!! '

Chickielady-I think it's been quiet on here cuz we actually had 3 whole days of sun!!!!!! Weather goes to crap and we will all be depressed and sulking inside again and be back on the computers!! '

Im still here, just have to fight for the comp with my son.

Im trying to get the place together for the 4th wold like to have friends over and have them not think of my house as a barn. LOL
Also trying to figure out how to get the dairy up and going and sell the eggs at the same time.. Poor husband he needs to be 3 people at once since he is the man that gets to do all of the builing.. Told him we need to get our youngest outside with him to learn how to build..

We picked a huge bowl of peas from the veggie garden and decided to share with the "feathered family". Here is photos of hubby shucking peas and giving them to the Kiddos. Some would come close and eat, others (like Hannah) wanted them tossed to her so she could pick which one she wanted. The 12 BR girls were eating them out of my hand too.

Look closely and you can see peas coming from hubby's hand. This is Hannah in the photo.

cross fingers for me, my replacement batch of tolbunt polish only yielded one viable egg. It is due to hatch Sunday. today the ameraucanas I put in there to keep it company if it hatches all started to hatch. I'm excited because they're our first BBS ameraucana chicks from Pips and Peeps roo crossed with Cree hens. So far the tolbunt egg sits stubbornly still. 3 ameraucanas are out - two splash and a blue.

my older Tolbunt is doing great. He's so freaking cute.

Is there a website you'd recommend fpr vaccine orders?

Our first baby chick hatched this morning!! We were not expecting them to start hatching until Monday, but this little one decided to hatch 2 days early. It is a Ameraucana/Black Copper Maran cross from Zgoatlady.
The kids and I built the bator out of a styrofoam cooler, fan and lamp and have lived on eggshells (ha ha) the entire time because the temps kept fluctuating up and down. We got 10 eggs and threw one away after about a week because it was obviously a dud. The shells of two are to thick to see developement but the rest have so far looked great, lots of growth and activity.
I missed the entire event because we are out in Westport for the weekend.

My 20 year old daughter has been taking care of it for us.
Since this is our first attempt at hatching eggs I am totally unprepared for baby because I was planning on them hatching on Monday and was going to stop at Dells on the way home from the coast to buy everything that we needed then.
One question I have is about immunizations. How do I do it? What do I give them? When do I give it? How much do I give? Where do I buy it from and how much does it cost? Ok that was more than one question.
Would post photo but don't know how to, any suggestions?
