Hello fellow Washingtonians!
big_smile.png

I am new to this website and the chicken world in general. I am the proud owner of 2 Barred Plymouth Rock chicks, 1 Australorp chick, 3 Splash Ameraucana cockerels, and 1 Indian Runner duck.

I am looking to rehome my Ameraucanas as I just found out they are roosters. Please check out my add if you are interested: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=388378

They
are beautiful and loved but I doing think my neighbors will enjoy their cock-a-doodle-doing.

I'm tired!

I'm gonna take a break and have some food

BUT... I got the nesting box, nesting doors and the pet door outside access installed!
When this scrap wood, recycled, reused, misused, weird and huge coop is done the chickens are gonna have fun!

*for coop details go to my BYC page and see the photos!

Welcome speckleshen & Bourke&Chicks,

Glad you joined us. Just checking in. I read all the posts, just don't post here often.

BUT...

I am expecting a couple PMs

Christina,

Gotta know the moderated joke, and the poop joke. I get home from work too late to catch all the excitement here on BYC. And I'm anxiously awaiting the smelly post.

Is applesauce the same as fiddlesticks, or sugar?

Yes the applesauce is like fiddlesticks and sugar. I am working on calling it chicken nuggets now that we have been caught again.

Well all I have is a bunch of stinky little dogs tonight. I spent a good bit of time out in the back yard, looking under the shrubbery without locating the source of the stench. I know that I upset and ruined the rest day for a whole bunch of little spiders. I am going to have to hope that my DH is better at watching the nasty little dogs, and locating things. I just finished washing the three older dogs, apparently it was their turn today. The babies must have decided that it wasn't worth getting another bath before bedtime. So the chicken nugget story will have to wait. The suspense is wearing me out.

I really don't get it I even had one of the neighbors teenagers helping me look for it. So I am reasonably certain that I looked at everything in the yard. I even looked under the holly bush. That wasn't easy, but I did it. Now my backyard is just not that big. It a rectangle in shape, and there are no odd corners. I have a 5' flower bed that goes along the fence line, and a flower bed that has beautiful hydrangeas next to the house. I have nice neat lawn and flower bed with some lovely shrubs and trees at one end house and the other side of the house is now mostly concrete. The chickens and the small greenhouse are in one corner next to the new concrete patio. That just doesn't leave many hiding spots.

Something is out there that smells nasty, and the dogs love to roll in it.

I am going to be spending the rest of the week washing little nasty dogs.(good thing that tomorrow is Friday.) I am now praying that the forest fires in British Columbia don't produce enough smoke to keep the airplanes on the ground. DH called, and said that they could hardly breathe because of all the smoke where he is. I think his in Alberta someplace this week.

So the suspense continues through tomorrow.............

So... Looking into breeders close to us that we may be interested in the breeds. The two NPIP certified are:

1. Sheryl Butler in Bothell (Cochin Bantam & LF)
2. Cynthia Smith in Tacoma (Araucana Bantam & LF)

I was able to find very positive reviews for Sheryl on BYC & elsewhere. Talked to her today and she seemed very knowledgable and answered all my questions & had a few of her own. She thought the bantams may not be tolerated well by our 5 LF pullets.

Does anyone have experience mixing bantams with LF? Do you have a separate coop for the bantams?

Also, does anyone have any insight on Cynthia? I haven't called her yet to see if she has any Araucana pullets available.

Please PM me if you would like to share an experience or though on either these two that you may not feel comfortable on the board.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!

Good work! You can still get the Oops paint/primer at Lowe's (not at Home Depot).

Dang! Wish I had known that before, but will defiantly do that in the future. Thanks!

Okay, if you're meeting Jessica Rabbit, where are you meeting her??!!! In Seattle?!! If so.... Any loverly pullets coming with you to, say, my house? Lol. I seriously need to stop yearning for more.

I was planning on going through Duvall to drop off some chicks and then to Monroe to visit with my kids, and Jess could drive down to Monroe and pick up the stud bunny ?
But have not heard from her in a while...must be out riding with a motorcycle gang...off to Sturgis perphaps ?
