Well at least you caught it, and maybe need more smoke alarms...some 'see' particulate matter and can go off even if their is dust floating...and some 'see' blurs, like smoke screen or steam...
I have one in every coop, in the brooder pens, on top of the incubator, and 2 in my little cabin, and also have a carbon monoxide alarm in here too.
I cannot even make toast without one or more going off....

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!! Frozen rabbit water bottles !!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know yet...I have to go out & check on my geese & ducks....it's supposed to be even colder tonight so they're staying in the horse trailer until we leave tomorrow.

Do not ever have snow jealousy issues !!!
I had snow jealousy issues because I am on the coast at sea level so I did not think we would ever get any snow...and everyone else had snow...so then we got smacked hard with the snowy cold stick....

My birdies are gonna freezer their little feathered buns off. Crummy sake. I hate being cold. I think I will become a snow bird and move south for the winter. I am not waiting until I retire....

I MISS MY CHICKENS!!!
me and my daughter are going through serious chicken withdrawal. Though we have killed them and eaten them and their eggs, we still miss playing with live chickens.

So I went up on the hill where my new orchard is...4 pear trees, 4 apple trees, 2 apricot trees, 4 peach trees...and a hazelnut...eveyone of them is in full leaf, nice and green and transparent, frozen solid.

Does not look good at all....even the blueberries are still leafed out.
The alder and maples dropped their leaves, though...smart native trees !

I hear on the news last night that Snoqualmie, Stevens and Santiam were covered in snow,chains and snow tires required, blah blah blah... but they showed live cam shots of NC and it was clear as a bell !
Then I went to bed.
So did I see that correctly ?!? I thought for sure NC Pass would be closed big time due to this storm !
Checked up and Cayous is closed, but North Cascades, SR 20 is still open...amazing.
I thought it would be socked in with snow...traction tires req and carry chains.
Huh !
