I will have to go on the site and read it.

Hey quick question: This cord of wood I am stacking is wet, heavy, about half seasoned, so I am thinking I will not cover it up, we will not be using it until next year so if I cover it will not dry as well, true ?
Well, I will stack some more and be back in a while...wow it is kicking my fanny, out of shape !

WHAT IS SHE DOING FEEDING THEM NATIVE BANANA SLUGS????? The others, yes, but the native banana slug? No, no, no, no, no.

lol the conversations around here. But hey, you actually can grow plants from urine. . . .

My girls and boys don't mind small slugs, the ones that are all over the pasture, but forget about the big european "black" ones. . . Those are for ducks to eat. Which we don't have.

But I guess something is eating them because I never ever see them anymore. . .

Doesn't anyone take their sick goats to the vet? I'm just curious as I don't know if I would spend the money on a goat. It would just depend on the value. I pretty much know when it's time to call the vet for the horses except the Sunday I called the vet in on an emergency when a horse was walking around snaking its head around in the air and stumbling. I freaked out because I thought it was something neurological and it turned out he just got stung by a bee in his mouth. Dang. $500 for a dang bee sting. Anyway, I will take the dogs and spend almost whatever it takes because they are a member of the family. But just asking because there are some people on here who will take a $10 chicken to the vet and spend $500 so not judging, just curious. Everyone with a sick goat on here except one has not mentioned taking them to the vet. If they had diarrhea you could take a stool sample to the vet and it wouldn't cost much to have it checked. I might do that before everyone up and died.

Love it. I am sure - somewhere out there - that someone will complain about slug abuse. But, I think it is funny. Slugs on our side of the mtns are not quite as big...but I know when there are slugs in my garden because of the holes in the leaves. Another fun bug to give chickens are those big horned tomato catepillars. The chickens LOVE them.

When my hens were babies we went to the pet store and bought meal worms and fed it to the chicks...oh my gosh....they went nuts.

It's fun to catch crickets/grasshoppers for them too! Throw it in the middle of the run, so it can't hop RIGHT out, and watch the birds go NUTS!!

My Chickens won't touch fuzzy Caterpillar.

I have never taken a goat to the vet.

Never taken a goat to the vet, never will as long as I live here. Our local vet is brand new out of college and has no experience with livestock, plus our previous vet nearly killed a few of our horses and has killed other people's cats before in "accidents."

The next vet is 70+ miles away and will likely cost a fortune.

Merry Christmas everyone.

So much sadness and happiness on this thread lately. Have a great holiday. And I hope next year brings nothing but good stuff for us all.
