Even if the herbs don't shrink your heart, soda speak, they can help with the function to keep things in balance and working properly. And if you buy some red clover blossoms at the health food store, make sure it's organic, there are always a few ( or many) seeds in there. Just like growing catnip. Never have to buy seeds if you want to grow catnip. Just throw some dried catnip where you want it to grow. Along those lines, I put old rabbit cages over my catnip plants and let it grow and fill up the cages. Whatever grows through the wires is for the cats. the rest is mine. Keeps the cats from rolling in young plants and keep my tea from having too many cat hairs in it.

I did read that in the article CL sent me. Ive never seen any red berries on my trees though, so I am wondering what type of tree the hawthorn was crossed with to make it a hybrid... But then again, these are HUGE trees, and all the flowers are 20-70' in the air, so I really wouldnt be able to see them anyway. Plus we have lots of wild birds, and the article said that theyeat the fruit. So..?

If you dont mind me asking, what is the catnip tea for?

I make a sleepy tea for moi from the catnip. I mix it with Skullcap, Chamomile, Valerian (which I also grow in my herb garden) ... A nice tea of this and I sleep like a baby. And of course, my cats, being druggies get a fair portion of catnip also. Catnip is fine all by itself to help you sleep very gently and with no bad hangover like pills can do. Oh well, there is a bit of a slow wake up but with a mellow kind. Valerian is what Valiums are made from. Or were. Maybe now it is synthetic. I prefer to take mine as close to nature makes it if possible. I think there are minor elements that are valuable to keep a balance in the ingredients that will work for us.
Now, if I could just find an herb to take the place of Albuterol.

Thanks for all your advice! I really appreciate it. We went out for Thai food tonight, yum! Of course she picked all the vegetables out of her fried rice

If any of you have Gluten free recipes for the bread machine, I'll take those. There is a Trader Joes in Issaquah. I'm down there every Weds for her harp lesson, so I'll hit it then. I did pick up Gluten free pasta.

I just clicked on my BYC page cause DD has lots of photos on there. I guess she has little dark circles; not bad. Nothing like my poor nephew...

DD had ear-infections a lot as a baby. Since she was allergic to every antibiotic they tried on her at the time, they wanted to put in tubes. We were building this house at the time, so we decided not to put any carpet in the house. She has not had an ear infection since moving. I tried dairy-free, and there was a slight improvement in her skin condition, but she was otherwise miserable. SHe loves cheese, milk, yogurt... She had terrible gas on soy products to the point where she refused to eat them because she did not want to get teased in class. She likes almond milk. I think wheat-free will be easier than dairy free. It better not turn out to be egg yolks! I have a cousin and her daughter that can't even eat bread baked with eggs!

I have a friend who just told me that she has been diagnosed with Lupus and scleraderma. She and I have not talked much about it....but she told me the basics about the scleraderma, basically telling me it is a death sentence and how she is managing it. Very scary. She is not one to let something like this slow her down (or at least she will try not to).

My best friend was diagnosed with systemic lupus nearly 20 years ago ... we went up to Tahoe for a ski vaccation and she got the mother of all nose bleeds. We were pushing entire rolls of TP to her face to soak it up, and it just would not stop gushing, so we went back down to Sacramento where she told up she had been peeing blood like that for weeks and was too afraid to find out what was wrong with her. She also had blood pooling around her ankles. After her diagnosis, she asked me to read up everything I could on it. She did not want me to tell her anything unless she asked. Poor thing was going downhill very fast ... so many meds. She arranged a guardian for her daughter, her Dr. told her she had months to live. She decided to quit all her meds as they made her feel unreal, then went to a chinese herbalist. She gave up alchohol, sunshine (she lived in a condo on the beach at the time) moved to Washington, is always in bed by 8 pm now, and has been managing quite well. She still has some bad flare-ups, but nothing like when she was in CA. I hope your friend has a mild form and can contol it through diet.

I had put my name on the list but its not there so I'll add it again

I love those people and they have such a great variety of birds. All my younger birds from last year came from there. But I lost 7 birds out of 23 and my neighbor lost 3 of 9 to what we are pretty sure is Cocci. I had a heck of a time keeping chicks alive. Please ask them how they are dealing with that this year. They were having a marathon of keeping baby chicks going also. A steady stream of babies going in to a nursing box. I think they must have gotten it under control but I am so gun shy of going there. That's why I am hoping to get my birds from you guys when I am ready. Too heart breaking to lose baby after baby.

My mother-n-law got her chicks in marysville. She got 2 extra just incase some died. They all made it.

100% silicone caulkin, dry overnight

You can also use large diameter pvc pipe with holes in it for water.. another thing is chicken water nipples and small pvc pipe run... attached to a large water source (like a 5 gallon bucket or 55 gallon drum)

I use water nipples as well as other waterers.

I also use water nipples for all my birds starting at a week old.
