GREAT to h ear that a young person wants to be a show and performance dog vet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nowadays being a breeder is such a "dirty" word! (Not!) The new crop of PC vets being turned out don't even want to euthanise "healthy" dogs which have poor temperament! Ee gads. Too much of this ridiculous "rehabilitation" talk... after 20 years working as an animal control officer/shelter worker I'm here to tell you that not nearly enough culling is going on these days. Purebred registrations are down - and dog bites are up. Hum?

I disagree that the "blame" for sick birds should be placed on the show giving club. Not their fault. Almost all folks showing consider themselves poulty experts... they KNOW if their bird is showing symptoms or not. I don't expect a vet who is showing birds to have to pull double duty, and to ask such would be unfair as it could cause hard feelings. However, there seems like there should be *someone* at the club who can make a determination if someone insists on bringing in symptomatic birds? And eye is either dry and clear or wet and half shut. The OWNER can see this as well as anyone else.

Sick birds sure won't stop me from showing, as I think whoever it was that said that it is up to each exhibitor to keep their birds healthy and strong. But, having worked around animal rights people all my life, I can tell you that the PETA and Humane Society of US types never miss a chance to "expose" problems with purebred animal events... each purebred animal venue HAS to police itself - or someone or something we won't like will end up doing it for us!

OK, enough preaching and nay saying for tonight! : ) It was a great show with great birds and great folks. Good n ight all!

I want to say thanks to Chickielady, Pips and Peeps, WthChristi, & Risingstar for the pretty rainbow of egg colors in my bator right now! Had to go yesterday to pick another tuner cause there was not enough room in the one I had! Hatch day should be a blast!

Yes they did.....little monsters....When I got to the motel room I duct taped plastic cups (that I stole from the motel) to the insides of the box...worked great. Everyone had food and water. We later snuck the rubbermaid boxes (with hens) into our motel room so they would be warm enough over night. LOL....see I told you my chickens are spoiled.

All are doing great.

ETA to add: Ya' think that they would have been thirsty enough to leave the styrofoam alone and drink the darn water.

I love it when a plan comes together. Since I was "out of uniform" I had to do something to protect the identity!!
