I want a big ol' herd of those someday too!!!
love.gif

Im happy just having them across the road. The old man who owns them is in his 80's and if I remember correctly this is his last year breeding them. The calves are so stinking cute! If i can get a pic of the one calf thats there this year I will post it.

Im lucky to live out here on my bus route there are two moms and babys . Look like big dogs.

Oh, lord. When I was dealing with the fatigue of having my husband in the hospital, his back surgery interrupted by 42 hours in the ICU, no chair for me in the ICU room until the last morning he was there, sleeping on a damp futon in a basement (which Deirdre rescued me from) and having my meds and food all fouled up by the crazy maze that is Virginia Mason, I suddenly realized that except for getting up at 4:30 am and shovelling manure and washing cattle, it was exactly like showing cattle at Puyallup.

Damp futon ?
Too bad you didn't have a nice fuzzy warm steer to sleep on..that little girl was totally asleep!!
So darn cute!!
Those folks raise prize Herdfords here in South Bend, and have thousands of trophies, and a horde of little skinny toe-headed kids all showing....

Ten to one they know my sister; I've gotten out of touch with the cattle show world since about the time my kids started school, and even then I only knew Angus and Shorthorn breeders because Puyallup had Herefords showing a different week.

I just had to shuffle through the Wikipedia list of cattle to remember the name of the red and white- Pinzgauer, which I knew as soon as I saw the word. I hate getting old. Except, of course, I've been aphasic since childhood, so getting old isn't a good excuse: bad wiring, is all.

Ok so in my incubator the big one, my temps range from 100 on the top to 99. on the bottom shelf.
Is there any way you can read the temp where the eggs would be? I think Id do it the might hatch a little early thats all. I just make sure in the one hubby made me that is doesnt get up to 102..

Thank you - with enough hand holding from a few others and the steady temp of 100, I decided to just go ahead and set them. The eggs seem happy so far, rocking slowwwwly back and forth on the cradle. I haven't even gone to look at them in the past 42 minutes - that's just how cool and confident I'm feeling now...

Since I set them about 1 PM today, that makes tomorrow Day 1, correct? I did read somewhere on the forum not to count days so much, but look at weeks on the calendar. If I set on a Friday, then 7 days is next Friday, etc. I've marked the heck out of my calendar for checking water levels, weeks, lockdown, etc. I like things in writing so I don't have to depend on an aging brain.

Southsiders? Westsiders? Enumclaw, Puyallup, Lake Tapps, Bonney Lake, Tacoma, Lakewood, Raymond, Gig Harbor, Key Peninsula, any body from anywhere I haven't mentioned from towns I cannot locate on a map - Even our Northerners are welcome. Anyone else interested for a meet-up at a comfortable wine shop set easily off the freeway in the heart of Tacoma some Wednesday evening after 6 PM? I've got keys to the shop and a bottle opener for wine tasting! Let me know and we can set a date!

Oh we need cheese to oh Goat cheese..

I'll be there unless DS is in the hospital. He went in today and they sent him home so he's going back to his DR. CRA_ I hate this. Next week he as a appt on Fri with another specialist...

Me too! I love baby lambs! (Okay, see I'm kidding here. I know that Scottish Highland bull will not help produce sheep. I may be city, but I did NOT just fall off the turnip truck.)

You will do just fine with your hatch. And hey! We can be hatch buddies! I just set 30 eggs last night in the same bator! lol I did notice that on the last batch of eggs. I was having to refill the one water trough every 3 days. It might be different for you.

Looks like a Scottish Highland, thats what DW wants.

Yep you got it right on the nose! My neighbors across the street have a small herd of Scottish highland cattle. So very gentle. Lambert is the big bull that likes to break out and come visit me.

and if you were from Scotland, you would call it a "hi'land coo"

Now the party's getting started. Goat cheese? Can't wait. Chocolate and fruit? Yes please. We need to add some folks to the attendee list so we're not the only ones having fun and deliciousness.
Zgoatlady - good thoughts to all of you. Wishing your family some good health soon.
