Thank you everyone for the hugs and condolences. Labs are the best dogs. Chloe never once tried to hurt a chicken. She did always beg for an egg hand out. She was the best egg sucking dog around! I have one coop that opens up to our yard instead of a fenced run. When those chickens were out I would have to keep an eye on Chloe as she would sneak in there and steal eggs right out of the nest box.

It's only day two for me so not much to report. I just say hi to them when I walk by. They are in an out of the way place on the kitchen counter. This bator is doing great at holding the temp at 99.5 and the humidity at 45%. I'm really impressed so far with the Brinsea for being foolproof.

I'm SO SORRY to hear about your Chloe !! I started to read your post to my wife last night but got too choked up and my daughter had to finish reading. 16 years is great. BUT NEVER enough when ya lose a love one !! I know what you feel because I have a GSD that is amost 15yrs old. she is deaf and has bad knees BUT she is always by my side. She is so good with my chickens.when the chickens free range she sits in the field and watches them and is on the lookout for coyotes. But she won't let the chickens come up on the deck where her food dish is !!!. I don't know what I will do when THAT day comes

Well, I just lived and learned. Reading yours at 45% humidity...got me thinking...I thought it was suppose to be around 50%...hmmmm better go check. You are right 45% to 50%...I just opened up the litle vent hole to let some out...I hope this won't hurt anything. They have been set for 3 days. I should have re-read the recommendations. Darn.
