My son just found an injured Varied Thrush. I think it is a window strike, her neck seems to be injured and she is breathing hard. She was trying to fly away, but can't lift her haid, so she flaps her wings and tumbles onto her back. She scraped of quite a few of her breast feathers on a rough stome walkway while trying to fly away. We brough her inside before the rain started ans we are heating up a pad for her, but I think she'd going to die.
Last year I found an evening grossbeak in similar condition. I cupped it in my hands for 40 minutes and it suddenly sat up on my finger for a few minutes, looked around, and then flew away. I don't think this one will recover - I can't see that happening twice! Any advice on what to do?
