Saturdays are a bit easier for me (hubby is active duty Navy), but I'd love to have a meet up. I'm assuming we're doing some kind of chicken swap meet, like most of the folks who meet up seem to do?

We're on Whidbey. Does anyone have a location to offer? We've got a community center down near Coupeville we an rent out pretty cheap - plenty of free parking, etc.

ours were partly paper-towel cartons from Walmart, and heavy liquor boxes from the liquor store -- an ideal box might be from an appliance store, one intended to hold dishwasher, dryer, or even hot water tank ...

cut to the size/conformation you want with a box cutter, then tape together --- set up access panels anywhere you want

actually for part of the time, I had cardboard on the bottom, and an upside down clear plastic bin on top of the roosting boards, so I could watch what they were doing

Well, the hoop house has better rain protection. Of course while I was struggling to get the last suspension point to work for the (explicative deleted) modern safety bungie cords, and had been head down for long enough for my coat to have slid toward my shoulders, the skies opened up and emptied themselves on my lower back. After I came in for a driver and self-tapping wood screw (and coincidentally a replacement for my jacket and the wool sweater that took most of the downpour) and went out to finish that bit of weather-proofing, pick through a bag of corn-shuckings my friend the computer lady (your computer lady, I believe, Dana) brought to me yesterday so I could feed the sheep shucks and silk and treat the young Wyandottes to corn nubbins and Elvis to a cut cob with PLENTY of good stuff left and then noticed Elvis weather protection was in need of repair-. I was treated to another case of just when I was in a place where I couldn't let go or end up with a VERY WET Elvis and the skies opened up again and left me utterly drenched. Now I'm left with two really wonderful heavy old sweaters, which would be great if I wasn't going to be working around barbed wire for my next big waterproofing project, and a Helly-Hanson rain jacket which has not have its end of summer spider eviction: when we moved Franklin's family stuff up from Texas, we ended up with Texas spiders, so this is not something I feel like ignoring. Red hourglass markings are really impressive.

Well, I'm warm now, so off I go into the scary weather.

And then of course the phone rang

Yes- he's full term in a couple days now. I'd offer up our house but won't be able to if this guy is early or we're in the hospital, etc. EDD 11/5/11

when ever the DW gets mad at me, I grab her suitcase and ask her if shes moving out

I tell her "I'll help ya pack and carry the suitcase to the car
