Fantastic. DH just stopped by my work and said that he was able to get out of bed and walk himself to his chair today. Looks like he'll be out of ICU by maybe Friday, which is what the Drs were predicting...

Thanks CGG. I did NOT know that about the Tagro, but considering your line of work I guess you'd be more informed about those kinds of things. That's a little scary. I've never purchased any, but had planted some veggie seeds in it when I went to one of the city's free classes and they gave us all the stuff for free. Fortunately? I'm a very bad gardener so none of them ever took off well enough for me to plant them anywhere.

I have used Tagro on my flower gardens. It make them all go oolala. Then I get to pull the weeds that come with it. At least the weed are easy to pull. The place where you buy Tagro has veggies and flower gardens that line the way into the pick up area. The few times I have seen the gardens, it looks like gardens on steroids.

Thanks sweetheart, I knew you'd know.
And remember:
I heard snow level at 100 feet Friday (this was last week) and yesterday they said snow level to 500 feet Friday.
So, moral of the story is do what you gotta do NOW.
I have Lyda rose and her friend , an unknown rose (that was planted here when we got here) potted, and a topping of compost, and in the green house.
I am still thinking I should wrap each large pot in insulation batts (I have some extra pink fiberglass batts)
what do you think of that?
The green house is unheated, but generally is 5-10 degrees above outside temps at night..I do not want their roots harmed.

The critical things are getting the chickens properly housed (which feels possible now, unlike this morning!) and getting my hardy gardenia over to Margo's front porch greenhouse/ giant storm window. The dendrobium is sitting on the kitchen table with the rest of the orchids. I had to fish one of them off the floor again today, and am contemplating getting a teeny-tiny hotwire to keep the kittens from doing any more damage.

I saw Margo's front porch enclosed in, umm.... sheet white plastc.....but was unable to get out of the car, and she not home.
Did she enclose a green house area?
Or just her living room??

A big space for sure!

That is the saddest part.
If I were you, I would make sure HE KNEW that you are now going to BUY more birds to replace those lost.
Dollars do stand up and get men's attentions more so than arguements.
Sometimes, anyways.
Works for me.
I have a few pullets here if you are looking for layers.

I wish that were the case. However all chicken expenses have come out of my own little stash. He's not footing the bill at all.

One of your Buckets is a little tempting, since I lost one... but I will probably hold out for some other breeds that interest me.

I have just yesterday hatched 5 Bucks, and just locked down 10 more, and in 5 days will lockdown 12 more.
Let me know.

I grow potatoes in a "tatertower"
Whereas you start with a BIG truck tire laid down, fill with compost, add starts, and as they grow you add yet more compost, then another tire, and so on.
By mid summer you may have 5-6 tires, smallest on top.
The spuds form on the continueing vine.
At fall, you knock the tater tower over, and tires roll, and all the spuds are right there easy to pick up.
I have not been able to go harvest mine.
Nor did I get the brussels sprouts tops loped off until today & asked DH to cut them..hopefully they will still have time to form sprouts.
Should have cut the tops 3 weeks ago at least~~~

Goodnight all!

No need to rant now

X2
And I can spend ALOT of $$$ in a short amount of time without ever leaving this chair right here where I am sitting now.
Last year I ordered a big generator, and recently had 2 30 foot x 40 foot tarpes delivered, diesel stove & stove pipe among many more.
All from this chair.
UPS (and Fed Ex) are my friends!!!

X3 I buy, or and at least check the ratings on things I need buy, by using Amazon.com. I find it much easier to find things and often the prices are better than I could find else where. The best part is not leaving the house, and my feet never hurt when I shop like this. lol

Dave Sherwood has been found. His passing appears to have been quick. Please keep his grieving family in your prayers. Details on a service will come later.

This hit kind of hard. See eventhough I knew realistically there was little chance at this point. I was still holding hope. On the way from a not so good trip to town I stopped at the chaplains and he told me he had just got off the phone with Skamania SO about an hour ago (5:00pm) and there was no news. Then I get home to find it on FB that he has been found.

I tried the tire tower many years ago with about the same results. My stock tank should have worked the same way. I have only grow boyscouts one year. The bugs got them before I could get them. I think it was the same kind of bugs that the nasties flowers get.
