I would love a blue pullet or hen, and if 4-H Mom wants the rest, can send the remainder up to her.

Well, there's 2 people already interested in the roo with a hen, and 2 people interested in the splits. The only ones not spoken for are 2 of the hens. The sooner the better.

I'd like two hens (are they blue, black or splash? doesn't matter, just curious) (black, I see on reading, which is fine) but wouldn't be able to get them until after the first of the year.

They are black. If I can get them out of here sooner, I need to, but if there are no takers before then, they're yours.

You guys need to stop with the temptations! I'm already trying to figure out what I want to hatch in the spring and am thinking "Oh yeah, little Seramas would be cute." Beyond that I hadn't actually considered them staying here. I'm keeping fingers crossed your little peeper finds a new home this weekend anyway. Wasn't 4H Mom going to check with the 4H'ers to see if anyone wanted a pet? I'm afraid if I went to Monroe for a peeper that a puppy would end up jumping in my car too. I have as much resistance to taking in animals as I do for candy. And the results are both difficult to shed.

Make sure the "slackers" are not in moult!
If all your birds are young as you have said, they can "dry up" when moulting...and start lay again afterwards.

Well considering the best we got this summer was 17/23 and most of the tyme it was12-14 / 23. Since August the best I recall was 6-8 So it was time. the 12 short straws went to town today. Red Rooooster was there, she saw my birds and I don't care if she shares her opinionof my birds.
After dropping the chickens off at the sale I went and sat along trying to sell some of my metal. Finally at 2:30 I decided I was doing nothing but freezing. On a good note one of the guys who works at the sale stopped where I was and told me that my birds sold high.

Gas or electric? I've worked on electric water heaters. Not fun when they go out on you.

Electric, and just outside the warrantee period, which probably means it's getting close to replacement; our well water is very acid, and the sacrifice rods are no longer replacement parts, apparently.

Shut off power, drain the tanks, unscrew the elements & inspect & replace.
